Jet Pumps / HELP PLEASE > > > hydraulic place diverter connections
« on: July 14, 2007, 09:34:47 AM »
hey all, i just bought this 97 Ultra 21XT Jet boat, and it has a hydraulic place diverter on it, but it doesn't work.

I show 4 wires going into the hydraulic pump and only 3 wires coming out of the switch.  SO . ..   how do i hook it up?  i have power to the switch and it works but the place diverter will not work.    anyone have a wiring diagram or can someone explain to me, how it works.  i'm pretty good at wiring, but i'm having a brain fart and can't figure this out.  it might have something to do with working the last 48 hours and getting only 4 hours of sleep.

PLEASE HELP!

Thanks guys .. . .

Asking  2950 OBO.  Yes the Boat runs,  however there is a small water leak into the oil, casing the oil to become milky in color, its not enough to make the oil level change, just to change the oil color.   the trailer is stamped with the right numbers, but is still not registered. the boat has been registered and insured.  the jet is in good condition, motor is strong,  i had the boat out about a month ago, and runs on its own.  also motor has a new edlebrock carb ( replaced last season)

its 1974 Holmes Horizon hull, a "70's"  Ford 460, and un-registered trailer( yes i have a pink slip but the trailer doesn't have the numbers stamped on it, so needs a number plate to match the pink and its ready to register, oh and its got 4 brand new tires)   the boat interior is grey tweed with a rip on the top of the driver side seat.   i'll post some pics if anyone is interested or give me a call and i can show the boat.     714.331.1779  or hamano6@gmail.com   oh BTW,  my name is TIM

i'm thinking about selling it, but i dont have any idea as to how much i can get for it.  the motor still runs strong.  i was out at Lake Elsinore last week with it and ran around the lake really well. i want to keep it, but i dont want to spend any more money on this boat.
i have 2 sea doos right now, and i think thats enough until my life starts.  so . . . .   here's my dilemma .. . how much do i sell it for?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / change from 460 to a 454 . . .
« on: April 30, 2007, 09:29:27 PM »
hello all . . . i think you might remember me, i was having the water in my oil issues with the BBF.  well here's the deal currently, was out at elsinore on friday and started the boat in the water. . . . ran smooth for about 5 minutes.  got warmed up and continued to run.  so decided to take if off the trailer completely and give it a run around the lake.    it ran great. . . idled a little high but got that adjusted out.  got out to the other side of the lake and turned her off and checked the oil . . . .everything looked good.!   a small amount of "milk" in the oil but i was just guessing it was from running new oil thru the engine.

engine continued to run smooth.  no weird sounds or anything of that nature.   checked the oil a few times, it didn't seem to be getting any worse.   was out on the water a total of about an hour.  i dont have a bimini top so wasn't going to be out  there too long.    by the time we took the boat out of the water and got it tied down and go the seadoo out of the water. the engine oil turned completely to milk.  and it was still pretty dark, but it there was definitely water present.  here's the kicker . .. . the oil level didn't change.

so here's my dilemma .. .   completely rebuild the 460 OR change to a 454 OR sell the boat . . .  any ideas? ? ?  money is kind of an issue. . . so  i'm just stumped as to what to do . . . any ideas? ? ? ?

SIR YOU ROCK!  that is perfect,  i almost had it right.   okay,  one last question,  the valve you mentioned anything special about it?  just a water pressure valve right? should i put a pressure gauge after it  so i can adjust it?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Intake Bolt Torque Sequence
« on: April 16, 2007, 12:27:45 PM »
hello . . all . . . i'm pretty new here.   here's my dilemma.   i have a ford 460 in a 18' jet boat. and i love it.  I had to replace my gas tank this year and when i was ready to start it up, i checked the oil and found  . . . . WATER mixed with oil . . BAD BAD BAD . . .
so i popped open the intake & heads.  everything looks pretty good.  so i'm replacing the gaskets and gonna start it up again.  here's my problem, i can't find  the correct bolt tightening sequence for the intake.  Can anyone help?     i found the torque specs for all the bolts and even the tightening sequence for the heads, but nothing for the intake.  ALSO . . .
SECOND issue. . .
when  i pulled the intake and heads i was looking for the "problem" area. . . couldn't find anything. so i was doing some digging around and found that some people are saying that the jets might have too much water pressure causing water to blow into the heads and those people are using a water pressure regulator.  ANY IDEAS?   please help.  i need to get this boat back in the water,  my bro has a seadoo and keeps teasing me that it runs better then the boat. . . .it doesn't but since the boats down he's getting in the cheap shots....  i can't wait til i get in front of him and hit him with the jet! ( BTW i'm kidding) but my boat is faster than his ski.

i'm in Yorba Linda,  i'm hoping to get this thing up and running soon, so i can get out and meet some of you guys at Elsinore and Havasu.   Also,  i'm frequently in Laughlin too . . . i love to gamble!

Thanks in advance for the help!   ---TIM
