Im sure you guys remember this one. Having hard times and I have no where to store this thing and dont need anymore bills. Been scared for my job and my parents are losing their house. I have tried to hold on to it as long as I could but it has to go. Priced for super quick sale...need it out of the driveway a.s.a.p. This thing rides like a caddy and has a new Chevy 350 in it. Its had a fuel delivery problem since I have had it and so I removed the fuel pump. I am almost positive thats going to fix the problem if not then might have to change out the carb. Hate to do this but have no choice. Let me know if you have any question...click link above for pictures.

I guess you won't know until you put a pressure gauge on it. :banghead:

I know.....I just dont want to put the pump back on just to do this test when I am going to replace the pump anyways...if that doesnt work then I am going to try this.

im new in this subject but does it shutdown or die off till u lift a little?
i own a boat repair shop an i work on all jet,i/o,vdrive an so on but again if u need any more or cant get it let me know

Yeah I lose all power but then if I pull off the gas it will struggle to stay on and sometimes will stay on but after a while it just died everytime acting like it was running out of gas.

Ok.....you guys are great. Even helping me out alot knowing I went I/O...lol. Anyways...just getting information from you guys and remembering what hapenned at the lake really points to the fuel pump. It really acts like its running out of gas.....and another thing I remembered I had my friend drive as I watched what was hapenning in the carb and I remember thinking to myself there was hardly any gas getting dumped into the little bowls in the carb. My last boat I had bought a holley 750 so there was ALOT of gas dumping in on that one but even tho the carbs are different I still think there should have been more gas dumping into the carb then there was......I mean it was drops. As bahner says it is a stock fuel pump and I probly should replace it anyway. I read up on how to switch them out and it doesnt seem too bad. I already got the thing off. And yes....Bahner says its a new fuel filter and its already the big twist on kind and I took it off also and the gas was pouring out just fine out of both ends and was clean as heck. I am going to order my fuel pump from summit and install it and if thats not it then I dunno what the hell.....but I am pretty sure it is. I also read up on some other sites people talking about their fuel pumps going out on their old muscle cars and its exactly the same. It works untill the rpms' go up and then it just cuts out. Either way it should be replaced and its already off so I am going to do that and hope for the best.

Hey Nordic! How much you want for that carb?

Ok I took off the fuel filter and the fuel is comming out fine on each side. I also took off the fuel pump. It still had gas in it and the gas dumped out of the inlet hole but not out of the outlet hole. Does this mean it needs to be replaced? I will probly replace it anyway but I just wanted to know if there was a way to know if thats the problem for sure or not. Thanks again guys.

Yes it does and then I lose all power and it dies. How do I check fuel pump and carb?

It doesnt have a bow tank and it has a switch to switch from tank to tank so im guessing there are 2 tanks on the sides. Where would be the first place for me to look? What should I take off and check for? Or do I just start to replace things? The boat is a classic day cruiser I/O. Thanks guys.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / sbc problem
« on: September 22, 2008, 08:15:02 AM »
So ive got this brand new chevy 350 engine and it runs good at idle and low speeds. The person I got it from said I would probly need to replace the carb soon but the carb doesnt really look dirty. I dont know if that means anything if its dirty or not because I am still learning alot about engines. Well when I took it out it starts up fine and idles good and cruises really good but as soon as I get it up closer to top speed you can tell it starts to hesitate and then I lose all power and the engine fights to stay on and then dies. The only way I can get it to start after that is with some engine start spray and then it will do the same thing all over again. Do you guys think its the carb? Can I take the carb off and do anything or look for anything to see if thats the problem? I have a camera and can take pics of anything to show you guys. I am trying to make one last river trip and this little problem is kind of raining on my river parade. Any help is appreciated.

Well I know all Jet Boats are pretty small inside but untill I got mine I didnt realize how small. I really barely fit because of my legs. But him beeing taller and bigger  :-\
But yeah.....60 would be good for me too. I dont care if your boat does 80 mph......the conditions have to be perfect to be hittin those kinds of speeds and I dont like beeing limited. If I want to go out I want to go out. The way my boat was slamming down at the Lake it was just pissing me off.

He came by and didnt even have me start it up for him. I had the hose ready and everything. I cleaned it up real nice...gave the leather a treatment and everything.....it looks real nice. He later sent me a text saying he talked to his pops and it wasnt really what they were looking for. Honestly I think its too small for him. I am a tall guy probly about 6'1" but your buddy is taller then me and bigger. I barely fit in the driver seat so maybe that was the reason. But yeah I heard you guys had a good time and I watched your video. Your boat looks awesome man. I will have one just like it one day. Thanx for trying tho. Ive got a couple people wanting to trade but they are far....looks like I just might be takin a road trip.

Yeah....I love it too. Its cool right now but if put in the right hands this thing could be a real head turner. Mostly the engine needs some beafing up and some chrome. Its fast to me but after roaming around this web site I know that it could be alot faster after what I have seen. I will end up with another one because like I said before I am a speed demon. I love loud and fast and I want to learn to put an engine together like some I have seen here.
But your friend called me. I work during the week till 5 every day.....he said you guys are going to blythe tomorrow so hes going to try and maybe swing by today to take a peak at it. Thanx again aquaholic!

Yeah the engine is kind of dirty. I got it from someone who had it sittin for a couple years and never really touched it. When I got it it had en exhaust leak and needed a new carb. I took it to my friends dad and he used to be a professional crewchief and he helped me with the repairs and said i got a clean good running motor. He went out on a test run with us too.The carb. I got brand new and is a 750 holley.....that thing cost me over $500 and I also replaced the ful lines and stuff. It runs pretty fast....it scared my friends. Now about the pump I am not sure. I have posted up pictures here for people to tell me what kind of jet and alot of people didnt know but 1 or 2 people told me it was a Bay Jet? They werent really sure though. Overall its a very good running boat. Only problem I had with it was a water hose that went to the jet busted when I was out on the water. That was like a $2 fix and I was back out on the water with no problems. I had alot of fun skiing behind it. Let me know if you need to know anything else.

Bought this boat at beginning of summer. This is my first Jet Boat and I really love it. My g/f on the other hand isnt quite a fan. She says its "too loud, too fast, and too bumpy". One thing she is right about is the too bumpy part. I like to go to the river but I also really enjoy going to the lake. Our last trip was out to Lake Mojave and the second day I think I went on 2 runs the whole day. Just not the ideal conditions for this boat. This really turned my g/f off on the boat so here it is up for sale. I am actually also open to trades for a bigger boat. It would be cool to find a bigger Jet boat but I/O is also ok. Let me know what you got and if your interested in buying and maybe we can make a deal. Its got a 460 Ford engine in it and is turn key. I just got a brand new holley 750 double pumper carb. on this bad boy and it goes pretty fast. I am asking $4500 OBO. Here are the pics...

And here is a link to a little video I found while uploading pics from my camera. I didnt even know my g/f took this video. This was our last trip out about 3 weeks ago at Lake Mohave. I am really just cruising in the video not on the gas much at all but you can hear how strong the motor sounds.

Let me know if you have any questions. I hope to get another Jet Boat. This one has really turned me on to them.....I am just a speed demon lol! But would be nice to have something everyone can enjoy and its also always a good thing to keep the woman happy. Please dont try to bust my balls too much...haha!

Sorry T.J. I dont think you want any of this lining. Its was wrapped around the shaft really really tight. I had to go at it with a razor blade. I dont even think there is a 2 foot piece still intact. Not to mention its just really messed up.

Jet??

Uhhh yes I know this.....thanx for pointing that out sir   :screwy: Im not the one who threw it in there and I would never do anything like that. Hence the drunken idiot comment about my friend. And dont worry.....my boat picked up the whole thing so its not in the river anymore  ;D

Any ideas on what kind of Jet ive got here? Its just blank. doesnt say anything anywhere.
