Engine Mechanical / Electrical / BBC head bolts

Need Advice on head bolts. I have a 454 V1 with aluminum heads. Bought headers and they hit the bottom 4 head bolts. Their about a 1/4 inch too high. So I need to change to a lower profile old type hex bolt. Any advice? I believe I still need to have washers under the bolt.
Anybody have this problem?

thanks in advance
Doug

Hi Guys,
New to jet boating (need some advice) currently have a 454 with log exhaust, thinking of installing the bassett headers. I notice on some of your beautiful boats both long and short collectors. Any advice on which one? Its a 85 Taylor SJ Model. Do the muffers work good? thanks

Hi , I'm new to current jet boats. I had a couple in the 70"S but need your imput on current engine choices. We bought a 1985 taylor  with a 454 CI with a dominator pump. Took it out but sucked a valve. Need new short block. Do I need a marine short block? not looking to race but want decent power, running msd, air gap oval intake and 800cfm.Any suggestions?

thanks
Doug

Thank you Dan. Look like I might have to remove back seat. Any other tips? Can I unbolt the U joint through the access? Hole on the bell housing? Then unbolt bell housing? My wife just bought this boat and came apart after one run.

thanks again

Hi New to forum..

Trying to remove BBC from a Dominator jet pump. How far does the spline engage into the pump, as I only have inches to move forward in a Taylor SJ. Any help is greatly welcomed!

thanks
Doug
