TAF's old boat right? Hey...do you still have the Throttle/Shifter on your Spectra? Nice boat by the way!

I still have the throttle/shifter in the boat. But I did install a foot throttle and I just disconected the throttle cable from the shifter.

Here are a few pics of the parts, The billet peice is the one I bought from Rex Marine 3/4" tapered. The cast piece is the one that was on the boat. It is more like an inch or so. Any ideas? I would like to find a billet adapter that would fit my steering shaft but I am not having any luck.

X2 what GT said. I had a problem with mine and it was because of a rotted floor Put a new floor in and with STAINLESS screws , the foot pedal , and no problems for the last 3 years

Did you screw straight into the floor or did you use some kind of insert? Also did you use any caulking and what kind? Like the idea of the hardware in the link that GT posted. I also thought about threaded inserts.

I am fairly new to this so my questions might seem dumb......I just bought a 77 Spectra 18 and it still has a hand control throttle. I placed an order for a foot throttle and cable it should be here in a day or so. I ordered the floor mount push cable. Since I dont see the stringers I am assuming the boat has a sub floor. the diverter handle is also mounted to the floor. So, Can I just screw the foot throttle down to the floor? How thick are the sub floors usually made? Anything I need to be concerned about while mounting it?

Sure.. The ALT was hooked up wrong. The charge wire hooked through the breaker switch and then to a wire that was labeled ALT. That wire ran to the underside of the dash board and was not conected to anything.  It looked like the wiring was not completeed after the ALT and gauges were switched. I ended up just running the charge wire to the battery side of the starter selinoid.   

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. I just bought a 77 spectra 18. The voltmeter on the dash stays right at 12 volts when the boat is running. I checked it with my voltmeter at the batteries and 12 volts also. I also checked it at the alternator and it shows nothing. The wire that is conected to the alternator (bat) should show 12 volts, right. It shows nothing. That wire runs to a breaker switch and then to the wire block that says ALT. Is there anywhere I can look at a wiring diagram for this boat? I think the problem is with the wiring because the wire running to the alternator should be hot (12 volts) and it is not. Any ideas?
