« on: October 08, 2018, 05:32:28 PM »Well shit fellas, number behind the mental tag had been sanded off. Measured the boat and it’s an 18ft. Got ahold of the auction company and the boat is going back with a full refund. Not worth the hassle of trying to straighten out somebody’s cover up. 🤷♂️Good choice. I almost lost a day cruiser with the same situation. Took a month of tracking the builders back from 1977. Luckily they were out of jail and there was a hin stamped underside the right side of the hull.

I just wet sanded then lay two coats of clear and that always pops it back out. Second one doing it this way with great results. First one was so faded it felt like roof shingles to the touch and came back unbelievably nice.

« on: August 20, 2018, 07:17:56 PM »I've got one of those mechanic stethoscopes and placed it on the fuel pump when running and didn't notice anything but I do have a spare to try. I'm going to try pulling plug wires one at a time and see if I can narrow it down to a certain cylinder. It might be an exhaust leak on the bottom side of the logs. No gaskets, just silicone.Stop! Replace the exhaust gaskets first!!
I use the carbon fiber ones and they have never let me down. Tried the expensive aluminum, no luck. Leaked within an hour.

Meaning the pump is still spinning pushing the water through as you begin to decrease speed because your powerless. Therefore you don’t nose dive as hard.Anyone know at what rpm the clutches lock up?
