Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Metal fell into block Help!

I can get a picture later, basically when i was using an easy out it kept spreading the brass further into the threads, so i had used a punch and ended up breaking the little bit of brass left to be able to remove, the very tip of a needle nose pliers broke and may have fallen down there but not sure also a little piece of brass fell down there, my oil priming tool is on its way, i really just dont want to throw engine in boat and have it gernade... the engine only has 46 hours on it

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Metal fell into block Help!
« on: August 02, 2020, 07:19:11 AM »
HI everyone I have a mercruiser 502 mag mpi Gen v 1995. long story short i installed bell housing then went to re mount heat exchanger thinking i had plenty small enough bolts which then proceeded to snap off the brass oil pressure warning switch mounted behind it. when trying to remove broken threads some metal dropped in, does anyone have any ideas, or know where this passage leads, the engine is on the hoist right now, thanks for your time

HI everyone, long time reader. I have a 73 glastron with a 12JE and 351w. I had a four post solenoid fail and leave the starter engaged with the engine running for more than i wold have liked before getting it shut off. Long story short the ring gear needs replaced. I am pretty handy but i am trying to avoid pulling the engine due to garage limitations as well as height of the boat plus trailer plus engine for the hoist. Is there any way possible to leave the pump and engine where it sits, unhook u joints remove that black bracket around pump remove bell housing and flywheel bolts and flywheel? or am i just totally dreaming here. Thank you in advance
