Awesome info thanks again, got a pic of the stringers, tore out some of the ratty carpet for a better pic and found something that probably needs to be replaced instead of repaired     Its hard to tell, but do you know if the CSM unit was just an electric motor, or was it a hydraulic motor/pump ? 

Hey all, always wanted a jetboat and finally found what I think is a smokin deal so I pulled the trigger... a 74 Taylor SJ.  Boat seems to be pretty solid, was set up with a olds 455 which the previous owner pulled for a rat rod project.  Going to start stripping it all apart and had a couple questions I was hoping to get some insight on.  On the stringers it looks like someone might have dropped the engine or something fell on them because on the spot on both stringers theres cracks and one has a chip down to the wood.  Tap test shows that its still pretty solid I was just wondering if it could be repaired or should I replace the stringer.  Also I was wondering if anyone has more info on the diverter on the JE pump.  Only markings I can find on it is "CSM".  Any help is greatly appreciated and am excited to be part of this group!
