backward/forward... always an argument. Just be careful on taking any water in when facing forward. More of an issue for racing...

I do it all the time. You should be fine. There are a few washing machine spots -main one being a couple miles south of topock where it narrows with rocky cliffs on each side. Other than that you should be fine. Watch the wind when you get out to the open lake. If you stay towards the CA side when on the lake it's typically smoother water. There's gas in the marina if you're concerned about fuel. The sand bars on the south side entering/exiting won't be a problem in a jet. Just watch for groups of debris. It will be crowded this weekend -keep that in mind (again, washing machine effect). I'll be running from Havi to Pirates either Sunday or Monday to avoid the initial burst of folks. Oh yeah, people will be at the "mini" sandbar b/c the big one will be closed off. On the CA side nearing the opening to the to the lake (going south). Enjoy!

It sounds like you can count out a snag in the cable if you took it out and straightened it. Did you move it back/forth after disconnected?
Probably got dirt/crud in there and rusted the cable... I put a zirk fitting at the end of mine so I could squirt grease (or a blast of air) to get the crud out after an outing.
I've got a new one I let go cheap if you need one (16')

I have a '41 Poncho 4-door with a late model Mustang engine, tranny, and rear ready to go in. Any recommendations for shops in the area? I don't trust my (lack of) skills to make mounts and cross members and expect everything to line up as it should... I'll leave this up to the pro's.

I did a check on the local CL. Always hit and miss. One of the supershops $500 trans may be a good route for me. I can put together a brand spankin' new GM Goodwrench 350 and add vortec heads for ~1500. Might be the way to go with the 3 year warranty they include...

Use your smarts when jetting in Havasu. The south end typically has better water if your concerned (launch at Cattail or Springs). Backside of the island is protected as well (Site 6). Or be a channel rat - the popular thing is to launch in the marina and head there (

with a heat exchange - you're running closed cooling. You recirculate water in your block and use an external exchange (the big tube) plumbed with raw water. This is great for jets which often have trouble reaching operating temp or have pressure issues. Slap a t-stat and you can run all day at 180 (or whatever you choose).
