Reading your issue was interesting!  I have a 78 Eliminator, but with a BBC and a Holley 750.  The accelerator pump was leaking so I changed it.  Took it out and didnt seem to run as hard and Felt like the secondaries were not opening up.  I checked the secondary bowl and it was dry!  At that point I said screw it and bought a Holley trick kit.  Put the kit on and the problem was the same, even taking the boat out again and adjusting the carb.  After picking my brain over a few days I remembered when I was getting the boat ready for the summer, I started it and the motor appeared to spin backwards after I stopped cranking it.  In short the timimng was out and thought it was the carb.Like they say, start with the small things first!!  thanks for writing! :beer:

Probably not as rough, but havent been out there this year.  Been missing all the trips working weekends.  Pus its only 2.5 hrs from mi casa.

Any and all info is welcome, constructive critisism!  Bought the boat a few years ago.  I have been under the boat a few times, mainly been focusing on the top side (int and major motor detail) and was sure there was an inducer.  There is a key way on the impeller side of the shaft, but couldnt get the camera in for a good enough shot.  There is a bunch of minor pitting inside that cavity area, but assuming its from debris.  Pulled the snoop end off, but did not see any damage.  Man, I dont know!

The entire inducer was gone. I kept looking in there and thought something is missing.  Well it was!!  The shaft appears to be ok.  Are you supposed to see the impeller like this?

I got a 78 Eliminator bubble deck and took it out a few weeks ago after some carb issues.  The boat lacked power off the start and thought it was related to my carb issues,  might have been. Was loading it on the trailer and heard a few clunking noises that I have'nt heard before.  Got the boat home and looked up into the grate and what do you know my inducer wasnt there. >:(  To say the least I was pissed, but how could this happen.  There was a plastic beg wrapped around the shaft, but came right off.  Lost in the sauce, so if anyone has .02 to put in it would be appreciated!!  The pump is a 12jg Berk. :banghead:

Thanks for the replies.  There are so many gaskets and o-rings, one can easily get confused!  Mounted the carb and so far so good.  It fired right up! I will take it out next week and so how she does.  Timinator put maybe I should ditch my carb and go with a double pumper.  Would it be better on fuel economy and power?  I'm running a BBC.  I tracked down some previous owners, but all they new was it had a big cam.  Took off the valve covers and it had GM performance heads and Crane roller rockers.  When I took the carb off I looked into the intake (Weiand) and you could see some porting had been done.  Also has a Bassett pan and new twisties.  All braided lines with a stinger ingnition (havent heard of it).  Anyways if you have any input I would appreciate it!!

Well thanks for the replies on my first post!  The advise was right on the money, but didnt have clue what I was doing (kinda).  Removed the carb and took the bowls off.  the prim bowl was wet, but the secondary bowl was dry.  Probably the reason the secondaries were'nt opening up :screwy:   Bought a trick kit and got most of the carb put back together, but there is 2 small cork pieces and not sure where they go??  Any info would be appreciated!  Thanks.  Can post pics if it helps, but just got home from work...

No, i'm definetly not getting into the secondaries.  There is fuel to the guage, pulled the sight plug and appeared to be dry.  Going to pull it apart and check the needle and seat first!

It's a vacuum secondary and didnt open up the carb except to replace the accelerator pump gasket. Prob been siiting for 6 months or so.The gasket can only go on one way right! Nothing else has been messed with including the timing. Thanks for the reply ob001!

Took the boat out to blow all the cobwebs out.  Would inly rev up about 3900 rpm's.  Ususally runs up to 5000 or so.  It appeared to be starving of fuel.  Run a Holley 4150(?) and just replaced the accelerator pump gasket. It has a fuel regulator w/ a guage.  Guage reads about 6psi.  Doesnt seem the secondary's are opening up and runs sluggish.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! :banghead:

Headers include exc cond 4" tips and water lines.  A few of the lines are kinked, but overall they are in good shape.  Weep holes arent rusted out. $350. Any takers?

Try River Daves Place.  Think he's out of Havasu and he has a link on his site for custom aluminum tanks.  They are very reasonable, but out of Kansas!

whats up Charger, I remember you.  We had a good time!  Well gotta hold of the insurance company.  Put it this way they are not in a hurry, thier left hand isn't talking to the right!  I told them I would deal with it.  gotta love it....  I will take everyones advice and see what happens.

Ya it was ran for a few minutes until I noticed white milk all over the transom.  And I think your right, I have a bigger problem than I think I have!  Well I guess thats what insurance is for right?  Dam this sucks!

Thanks everyone for the help!  Warmed the motor and dumped oil in the cylinders.  Tried to suck the oil/water out of the dipstick w/ an oil changer, but wasn't to successful.  Gonna warm it up again and go out the drain plug.  Hmmmm, this might be a good excuse and tell the wife to do a rebuild, Lol.  Thx again for the advise, will keep you guys updated!

The boat was under to about the alternator, so the starter was submerged.  Really I dont know where all the water came in at!  Ya we were at Echo,  good times.  We were racing on Friday at sundown.  Had a blast!
