get a pressure regulator WATTS plumbing makes one part number X65B. you can set it at 20psi.
Use it instead of a gate valve. I have one on my boat with water jacketed lighting headers and they stay nice and cool.
Plus you wont have to worry about too much water pressure entering the engine block.
Best ninety dollars ever spent.

The heads have been machined for Chevy rocker studs an guild plates, roller rockers
edelbrock performer intake
holley carb
milodon oil pan

I got a complete Ford 460 motor from carb to pan. Just has been gone through. It has a holley 750, edelbrock preformer intake and a milodon 10q oil pan.
