Random Boat Parts For Sale / 2008 Baja Trailer for sale
« on: January 27, 2011, 12:22:45 PM »
While on Lake Havasu last year, my boat was hit by a houseboat and totaled - leaving me with a 2 year old trailer (used for 1 season) that I now have no use for.
It has 4+ spare, everything is in great condition. Tows straight and true, 7 pin hookup with surge brakes and disconnect, and everything on it is adjustable - the axles, the bunks, the wench. This trailer can handle a big assortment of boats as is, and there is extra length on the tounge that may allow even longer boats to fit. It was set up for a 21 foot Jetboat (Cheyenne day cruiser, looks like a southwind) but because I spent extra for it to be fully adjustable, it can fit many boats.

Honestly don't care so much about the actual year, I more care about seating and layout.
At a minimum I need room for 8 adults to be comfortable, (+ alcohol!) the newer hulls / interiors seem to have less wasted space.

My boat hull is getting totaled...and of course i just started building my 543....So I'm looking for a nice boat with a good hull, open bow, bigger is better, great interior boat that has a blown or missing engine. I need to fit at least 8 people, 12 is better...

Open to all drive types

Jet Pumps / Re: AT vs Berk impellers

Aggressor took one look at it and said Big Block Mopar? Go A3 and spin it to 6K easily.

Ok, maybe the last part I made up .  O0

Actually, they took a look at the curve and said I should use thier Bronze A3.

Speedy withstanding, some visual and finish quality differences nearly all the production impellers availble are going to act and react the pretty much the same , the differences in exit blade angle and in some cases blade dimensions vary slightly the big difference over the past years is the Older Agressor cuts which were numbered (letter designated) "off" the industry standard ( eg thier "A" was closer to a Berk "AA") This BTW does not apply to non energized Jacuzzi  Tom

Heres a brand new un-detailed AT/Dom aluminum

So if I'm reading you right, 500Hp loading = X GPM regardless of RPM.

If I'm not trying to get every last MPH out of something, then really just having the jet clearanced right matters more than if I get an AT or Berk impeller. Right?

Welcome back Speedy, long time no see.  Did you crack an impeller with that mighty Mopar ?

Nope, but I'm goin' big with a 543ci Mopar. I figured I'd take advantage of the 675ft/lbs at 3k :-)

Happy to be back  :-)

Jet Pumps / AT vs Berk impellers
« on: October 02, 2010, 09:56:12 AM »
Ok everyone says AT's are better and they load the pump harder. They certainly look better BUT does it make the boat go any faster? Basically the load on the pump is the water flow and resistance, and one that loads harder well, doesn't that just mean it is flowing the same at a lower RPM?

If I took two impellers, say an A3 Berk and an A2 AT, and they load at the same RPM, will one actually be faster?

Welp, bad gas and put a hole in a piston in my 440 mopar...That's what I get for trusting dock gas with a 11.68:1 engine.

So now I decided, I really don't like spinning an engine 5500 for hours on end.

What if I built a 543ci engine and threw an impellor on it that maxes out at 4500 RPM's (or lower)

Does anyone have a A2-A4 impellor chart? The setup I am looking at calculates 658ft/lbs and 525Hp at 4500 RPM....

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: NEW CARB
« on: September 21, 2009, 08:17:13 AM »
i will probably get slammed for this but what the hell...........what is the different in "annual booster" and "down leg" and is one better than the other?
thanks

Dog leg booster
+ flows the most fuel
- Large drops, needs the most acc pump

Annular booster. basically the fuel comes out of a big donut with a bunch of small holes around the inside of the donut assuring a fine mist of fuel (big droplets don't burn).
+ better burning, quicker throttle response, more power
- the ring (donut part) is resrictive itself, so an 850 CM carb will only flow 830 CFM when converted. Sometime the booster signal is really strong causing an over rich condition

Hell do both.
Chet Herbert will grind you a custom roller for around 200 bucks, or half the cost of my last Crane off the shelf solid roller cam.

Over reving can also snap parts unrelated to the valvetrain.  ;D

Huh?
There must have been valve float going on. The Hemi bottom end is WAYYYY stronger that anything else out there. Because a hemi has the valves opening into each other on opposing sides of the engine, any valve float will kill it. Don't skimp on the valve springs.

does playing twister covered in baby oil on a houseboat count?

The No Wake Zone / Re: can you run 1050 carb on 4150 style intake?
« on: July 14, 2009, 06:10:56 PM »
Hey guys - using a dominator adapter on a 4150 manifold makes MORE power than using a dominator style intake with or without a spacer.

Don't know why, but I've seen it time and time again on the dyno. My friends and I don't even bother with the dom intakes anymore...

I have a complete berk take off from when I did my place diverter, inc rudder. We aren't too far from each other, so you could check it out if you want.

So what makes a B a B instead of an A?  is it the length of the fins? the number? The angle of attack?

Trailers / Re: Trailer tires vs. car tires
« on: June 25, 2009, 02:04:01 PM »
In theory, trailer tires are supposed to have a stiffer sidewall and less lateral traction so they can skid / slide across the top of the asphalt during a turn instead of trying to keep the grip and stressing the axles and suspension. This should prolong the axle bearing life.

That said I have been running car tires on my car trailer for decades without issues, and the trailer tires on the boat are wearing out really quick.

That's a great arguement for jetting the primaries for 91, and the secondaries for 100.

I noticed on the 100, the more throttle I gave it the faster it went.

On the 91, cracking the secondaries only made more noise.

I have my hand throttle set so 0 - 90 degree mark is primaries only, and anything past 90 degrees is on the secondaries.
