I know Lake Elsinore has been closed due to the algae bloom.

With my old set-up, that was a 468 Chevy with a TR and Holley 600's I would get around 2 miles per gallon. So I would say probably similar mileage at the 3,500 RPM level.

I thought this one was really cool of Tom and Bob going at it (of course I didn't take the picture but I thought it was cool). I think it was posted on Hot Boat back in the day.

Here's a couple pictures from the 2005 Classic Boat Beach Bash... O0 Those pictures are after they pulled out the bower engine.

I think that is Tom's old boat in the background.

I found a couple pictures from the shoot but none of the Southwind 19' (I will keep looking and if I find them I will post them) just of my Southwind 18'. Another funny story is that a friend of mine drove up to the shoot from San Diego to come hang-out with me and he ended up knowing the model. My buddy brought up a 12 pack with him and she hung out with us the entire time and pretty much drank most of the beers in between shoots. lol

They had another Asian chick there too, she was supposedly Bret's assistant. Since only one of the models showed the assistant did some of the modeling shoots as well. If the date on these pictures is correct then the next weekend or two was the Classic Boat Beach Bash. So Bret is out at the Classic Boat Beach Bash there taking pictures of the boats on the beach and I guess he remembered me from the shoot and told me to come look at the pictures on his camera. He holds up his camera and there's a video of the Asian chick all naked and he is rubbing her ass. lol The good old days.

Man, I haven't seen that boat in a long time. Funny little story...

There was a call-out for a magazine shoot they were going to do at Elsinore via Hot Boat. A guy that was on Hotboat.com was coordinating everything and he sent me a PM to come join the shoot. I told him my boat wasn't show quality but I was getting ready to do the rebuild soon. He told me to bring it down anyways they were short on jet boats. So I show up early and see Tom pulling out the freshly built Southwind TD 19. I am like damn that's clean so I went to check it out and told Tom to stay for the magazine shoot. He was there just to test the boat.

I have the magazine somewhere, I think Tom's Southwind and my Southwind (yellow 18') made it in the magazine in the same month. A couple days later a friend of mine calls me and said hey did you and your girlfriend break-up? I said no, why. I saw your boat in Hotboat and some blonde is in it with you. I laughed and said that was the model you dummy. I will put up some photo's of the shoot if I can find them. I think I have a picture of the 19' at the Classic Boat Beach Bash too, Futs took me for a ride. Always, liked that boat.

The No Wake Zone / Re: Where are the molds ??
« on: February 09, 2020, 09:58:12 PM »
The Hallett Mini Cruiser mold was destroyed by Hallett (I asked Jerry Barron at Desert Storm a couple years ago). The Rogers 18 and 19 are still around. Advantage has the 18 and GSM supposedly knows who has the 19. Bill has the CP 18 and 19. GSM has the TPR 19/21 and the and the Daytona 19. Peterson has the PC 19. I am sure if looked hard enough you could find others like the Southwind. The last time I saw the Southwind 18 it was at Cobra.

I think Advantage builds a couple a year of the 18. Here is the last one Perterson finished up. I can't imagine the money in this one.

Hulls / Re: Southwind 18’
« on: January 29, 2020, 12:27:34 AM »
Thanks...

To be honest, I probably need to get a used one and have someone copy it. The problem is that the tank bracket was only offered for a couple years so finding one is difficult. Let alone finding one that is out of the boat. I am getting to a point where we are just going to fill the tank holes and do something different. Finding one would be some much more easier though.

@bobjthomson

Anyway you can get some good/detailed pictures of how the fuel tank brackets are shaped? If they're similar tanks to mine the tanks and the brackets were made by Lightening. I talked to Jan a couple years ago he said he only built them for a couple years. So once my brackets needed to be replaced (I through my old one's a way); I didn't know at the time that there wasn't a real good replacement part so I just used IMCO's not knowing that they were different.

I think that is Yard Dogs old boat. He said to come take a look at it but I was never able to come see it before he sold it. Is the new owner on the boards?

Roger pulled the mold back in the late 80's.
There's a few of these out there.

I talked to a guy that his son works for Advantage and he said they still had the mold. He is probably mistaking it for the 20.5 but it would be pretty cool if they still had it. How do these hulls handle are they similar to the 19 TR performance wise?

Cool boat. I think this is the only Advantage that I have seen with this hull. Any idea if Advantage still has the mold?

I have seen a guy selling them for $350 on the socaljetboats Facebook group. However, I am pretty sure that they are new and that's probably what the lightning go for too.

Interested in the blower belt cover. Is it complete and will it work with a chiller?
