They were the right ones. Didn't know you had to be smarter than the flappers

Coooooool.

I returned the weld in flappers they were the wrong ones. So I bought the other ones. They got here today and they are to big for my exhaust tip. They are 5in and I bought the ones for 4in exhaust. Is that normal?

The ones you posted the page of were not.....

Normally, the shaft goes through the inlet side of the tip in a hole through a couple of plastic bushings and the house holds the shaft from falling out.

I went to the store by house to buy them and that's all they had there. I was going to buy the ones I had a picture of but I wanted to put it together this weekend

Shouldn't be any welding.

The ones I bought were weld in. That's what the guy said at Eddie marine

I bought some flappers. Didn't know you had to weld them in. Makes sense now looking at it.

Would these be the right flappers?

I was going to order them this week. Just seeing if these would be the right flappers for the style exhaust tips.

Lub up the o-rings and yes it was  tough. I disassembled mine and tapped it in with a hammer! Tapped!!!!!!!

Awesome idea!

I bolted mine to the exhaust manafold, I got an aluminium spacer at the hardware store along with a bolt the same length longer as the spacer!

That's what I was thinking. Thank you. Did you have a hard time pushing the dip stick tube in?  I just want to make sure mine is right. It's not a threaded one.

What style did you go with?

I didn't buy one yet. I was thinking the braided one for a 454

It's pretty self explanatory when you get them.

Most of them have a rod that goes through the pipe and the house retains it.

Awesome!  I never had flappers before. How do I install them on the tips? Sorry if this seems dumb to ask.

Do they make shorter oil dip stick for boats? My exhaust is in the way.

30 ft/lbs for grade 5 and 35 ft/lbs for grade 8.

I would use both a hardened flat and a locking washer together.

Thank you. The flat washer and lock were definitely on list to buy also.
