looked at CP. they are 39- 45.00 each, i'll sell my new ones for 20.00 each.
Something similar to either CP or Eddie marine, not really set on rounded or squared corners.
The grab handles on the back of my boat are a darker blue, so hopefully can match pretty close. Or even if you have a polished finish I'd be fine with that. Just trying to get away from the ugly original dome shaped vents

The No Wake Zone / Re: ISO building contractor.

I wanted to put this out to the SCJB family before flipping through the yellow pages.

I've been wanting to build a shop/garage at my place for many years, and I'm kicking it around again.  This time I've realized I can't do it myself... So, I'm looking for a referral to someone you know, or someone on SCJB that is a General Contractor that is willing to build in Mentone CA.  I'm in San Bernardino county luckily, and don't have to deal with city of Redlands building issues.

Keith, look up James Rankin III of the Facebook page. He owns SoCal Image Construction

Brought her to the shop over the weekend, cleaned her up and was playing with the parts and mock up stuff.  No serious bites yet. May just keep her.
Keep it. As much time and effort you have into it so far, you'll kick yourself later if you sell it.

Jet Pumps / Pump packing

I need to replace the packing rings in my pump. Is it recommended to use the factory style strips, or would the graphite type rope packing work?
Haven't found much in the way of a spec. on it, is it 1/4, 5/16?

Engines / Engine Parts For Sale / Re: 396 pistons
« on: December 19, 2016, 07:40:51 PM »
If you have a 69 and later 402 block... just bore it to take 427 std pistons... i got some of those as well in a couple configurations.

Sent from my iPhone using SoCal Jet Boats
If my memory serves me right, it's a 71 402. Has 6 pop ups in it now. #1 was melted(combination of compression, fuel and timing). Cylinder is ok.
What would you charge to bore the pig James?

I'm sure I'll get some crap for this. Trying to see how cheap I can throw a budget runner back together for another project.
Anyone have decent a set of .060 over pistons?
(4.155 bore)

More questions.

I'm assuming this will be a .030 or .060 over 454?

What RPM do you want it to turn?  Weight and size/type of hull will influence the impeller size which, with your horsepower, will define your RPM.

Cubic inch and RPM determine airflow demand.  To keep port velocity high, select the smallest port size that supports the required airflow demand.

What exhaust?  Logs vs headers will require different cam timing events (less duration and/or overlap).
It's a .060 over 396 block. Not real sure what it will go into yet, may just sit on the stand for a while as a back up motor.

I have an offer open to me on a couple different sets of heads:
14092360, or 346236 casting numbers.

I have a basically stock 454 in my tank(cruiser), same as Dennis's. More or less "throwing" this back together as a spare

I looked this number up in our ProSIS software and chamber sizes can vary all the way up to 122cc.  You'll need a big dome to make compression with those... not my favorite way to do it.  Closed chambers with flat tops make around 9.5:1.  IMHO if you can pick up some closed chambers for a couple hundred bucks you'll be ahead.
Thanks for the info, I've got a contact for a couple of different sets of heads at a fair price for known runners. Looking to basically have a back up runner.
Will posting casting numbers of the other sets in the morning ..

H2O,

Could you share more about your horsepower goals and intended use?
Not looking for anything spectacular at all Joe. The way it sits as of now, is how I picked it up. Block, crank and cam(was told Melling RV). #1 piston was melted, from what I was told, too much timing, too low octane fuel and possibly too much compression? Still has 6 pistons in it(pop ups), not sure yet of brand or possible part number stamped in them. I'll have to find a set of pistons and rods. I'm going to put it on the stand this weekend and have some more specifics.

As for what I'm looking for/expecting, not much at all. Just figured I'd piece it back together little by little and have a back up runner, or if I came across another hull at a decent price then I'd have something to drop in and toy with.
Needless to say, expectations are at the bottom of the barrel
