We then moved on to mocking up suspension and axles so we could see what modifications were going to have to be done. The rear we wanted coilovers and big CVs so, we had to go with torsion deleted and make reliefs in the frame horns to clear porsche 930 cvs. The rear will have 3x3 trailing arms as well. Up front we also went with coilovers so we got a 6" wider beam with 10" coilover towers, along with 4x1 larger front arms and through rods through the beam to get rid of the front torsions. We got rid of the stock steering box and went with a center mounted steering rack. All of the coilovers with be KING Shocks. 2.5 x 14 in the rear and 2.0 x 10 up front.

Sand / Mid Travel Manx build
« on: February 07, 2023, 05:10:23 PM »
Well I know we are trying to bring more traffic back to the forum and since my boat isnt really doing anything excpet sitting under a cover waiting for spring to come, I got Brads blessings to share my off-road build on here. Its going to be a mid-travel manx powered by an air-cooled VW, 2054cc with a turbo and fuel injection. All of the pics will pretty much be in chronological order but ill make separate posts kind of explaining whats going on in the pics.

I started off with a donor Baja bug that was IRS rear but had a link pin front so it was perfect for what i wanted. We stripped it down to the pan and saw that it was in pretty good shape other than the passenger pan half. We shortened the pan 14.25" to accomodate the Manx body and replaced the passenger pan half before moving it into the garage.

Where is everybody  staying for this one ???

We were gonna stay up near Back Bay where Brad recommended but, they wanted only $100 less for the whole weekend than the Avi, I figured for $100 more the Avi has all the amenities for things to do after we are off the water. Plus the launch will only be open to guests so, hopefully it's a little less crowded than usual.

Boat Showcase / Re: Best boat seat cleaner??
« on: May 20, 2021, 12:00:42 PM »
Ive tried all the main brand stuff including the ones mentioned above, and to be completely honest, the one that worked the best on my seats was the LAs Totally awesome Upholstery Cleaner from the 99c store. cleans its really well but like any good cleaner it will dry it out so, i use the Mothers VLR and the Meguires Extreme Marine vinyl conditioners, they both seem to work the same.

Events / Re: Endless Summer Performance Regatta - Blythe, CA - UPDATED
« on: September 22, 2020, 04:08:41 PM »
Usually on a Saturday, by 8am we have no problems launching. If you plan on getting there on Friday though,  water is usually too low to launch until about 1 to 2pm. If you're launching from the Cove, the 10 Bridge and meet up spot are right there. If you have never been to Blythe, I recommend staying south of the 10, the waters are a little less crowded and definitely more navigatable. The sandbars for the most part are pretty easy to see.

The No Wake Zone / Re: What did you do to your boat today?

Replaced the header water valve. Fixed diverter, it had a quick disconnect barrel nut type set up that had broke off so, drilled it, tapped it and installed a heim. Did a quick oil change and then started doing some polishing.
