We didnt go out last Sunday since the weather was weird.  Wish we were going to the river this weekend but funds are tight.

I'll be out at Castaic this Saturday. Weather is suppose to be in the mid 90's. Stop by for a beer. It would cool to meet some of you.

X10 on the Samsung LCD. Great picture and clear views from all angles of the room. Make sure it's a 1080P and you are set. Costco has the 55" on sale for $1,500... Can't beat that

GT,

Not really sure of the manifold question. The manifold is the stock manifold that comes with the Indymar 502 engine. :sly: Hope this helps...

Right now I am spinning an A imp about 4800-4900 RPM's. After doing research, it seems like that is pretty right on to what this combo was meant to do performance wise (w/ Dominator pump). I have added a droop and that improved performance a bit as well.

The closed engine compartment definitely seems "tight". There is absolutely no air flow going in/out except for 2 3" cutouts out the back top part of the transom.

I guess what I am going after is better throttle response at take off and possibly spin a couple more r's.

Thanks once again for the help GT

Haven't really checked the clearance, but i might have about an inch or so... damn that line sounds like a set up  :banghead:

By going to a different intake manifold and swapping out to a different carb, are there any clearance issues I should expect keeping everything under my hatch? Or should that not be a concern in this case?

Water is very clean as of a few weeks ago. The algae problem was from about 3-4 yrs ago. That has since been taken care of and the water is great. I should be out there in 2 weeks.  ;D

My current setup is running a stock 502 BBC with what I believe is a Demon 750 cfm with vaccum secondaries. The boat runs great and I normally do not have any tunning issues, but after reading all of the posts on mechanical secondaries I am debating on swapping out my carb and possibly the intake manifold while I am at it. Maybe and Air Gap and a Holley 750 DP???

What kind of improvements should I expect from this swap? Once dialed in, how easy is it to keep that tune on the carb with mechanical secondaries? Is the 750 DP enough carb for the 502? Any and all information is very appreciated. Thanks guys.

Heading out to Castaic Lake tomorrow (Saturday) with a couple of boats. If you see me out there, stop by and say what's up. We'll be hanging out in the cove most of the afternoon playing some horseshoes.  ;D

Lake Havasu / Re: how to drive a jet boat
« on: June 07, 2010, 11:58:02 AM »
Something I have noticed on my jet (learned the hard way :banghead:) is that when beaching the boat on a sandbar for sometime, it is always a good idea to move your diverter up and down to make sure it is free from debris before you leave. Just because your boat is turned off doesn't mean that some crap can't get in there. This is a lifesaver when pulling out. You don't want your fwd/ rvs lever to get stuck. Hope this helps some and welcome to the world of jets.

LOL
Thanks. Now I owe you a few of these

Thanks for the info guys. So if I'm understanding this correctly, the biggest difference is that the water jacketed (header inside of a header) is constantly running a flow of water that keeps them a lot cooler and safer in a closed engine compartment. The water injected only runs a small amount of water through them, which means hotter temps that rely on an open compartment to maintain safe with better airflow.... think I got it  ;D

Here is what's on the boat now.

Yeah, I know. Been looking at the forecast everyday. Shows 70 and sunny in Valencia. I'll keep my fingers crossed. What's up with this weather this time of year anyways? :screwy:

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Water Injected Vs Water Jacketed
« on: May 19, 2010, 12:21:32 PM »
What's the difference between the water injected headers compared to the water jacketed headers? Applications being used in open engine compartments compared to closed engine compartments. I have a closed compartment with through transom exhaust (stock risers), but was wondering what will be an upgrade I could make without having to spend a ton of money (yeah right). :screwy:

Seems like the price difference from some Bassett TT headers compared to Lightning TT headers is huge. Then again, the Bassett website says that they cannot be used in a closed compartment...

Thanks guys.

Got a quick break at work... this site is addicting  :banghead:

Thanks for the invite this weekend guys. I'm actually having the boat serviced right now and should be picking it up this weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to get out for a test run to Castic next Saturday and the off to Havazoo for the long weekend.

So after looking through the site for some time now, I am finally trying to make it official. Here is my 2003 Aftershock 21' jet boat. It is an open bow with a Dominator pump (A Imp) and a stock BBC 502ci. I purchased the boat back in 2005 and for the most part the only upgrades I have done to it were to add a droop snoot and a nice stereo system... YOU HAVE TO KEEP THE HOT GIRLS PARTYING lol. On a good day the boat will see 60, which for now has been ok since my boat has never let me down.

I am loking forward to meeting some of you guys this summer. I'm in So Cal and I am usually at Castaic Lake on the weekends and I try and make a couple of trips out to Havasu as well (again, HOT GIRLS).

This is a really sweet jet boat site. A lot of people on here have provided more knowledge to newbe's, myself included, than you may realize. A lot of you guys seem pretty chill and funny as hell. I hope we get to hang out soon.

Thanks and I hope these pictures post since I don't want to make that rookie mistake LOL
