I had a similar problem and took the stainless line off between the tank and fuel pump (electric). Capped one end and pressurized the other with air compressor and stuck the hose in a bucket of water. The entire length of hose bubbled through the steel braid. The rubber inside had dried out so bad that the pump couldn't pull the fuel from the tank. Bought a new hose with teflon inside and haven't had a problem since.

Just used a heavy duty hand bender and a lot of muscle. Came out really nice. I just finished it and will try it out tomorrow morning at elsinore. I'll let you know how it works out as far as the amount of water to the headers and engine temp.

i realy like that what was the cost? cheeper than steel braided?

Probably close to the same. I had some fittings from another project and was able to use tubing from my last engine so hard to say. The problem is bending and having the right tools to bend stainless.

I just finished mine and I have the same setup you have. For the fuel lines I ran 3/8" feeding a tunnel ram with two Holley 600's. I used stainless hard lines but I think the inside diameter doesn't differ much. I ran 3/4" from the pump into a 3/4" to 1/2" tee into the inlets.  From the thermostat housing I ran two 1/2" out to the back of the motor into a 1/2" to 3/4" tee and out the back. Put two 1/2" valves before the tee. Also, off the front of the intake I ran another 1/2" line to a Rewarder check valve and 1/2" lines to the OT headers. Here's a pic just before it was finished. I didn't have the valves and the lines off the thermostat run straight out the back in the pic.

Engines / Engine Parts For Sale / Olds 455 Long Block
« on: April 07, 2009, 09:54:03 PM »
Got an Olds motor up for sale. It's a 455 that was rebuilt 3 years ago and got water in the oil first time out. Flushed it immediately and ran clean oil through it. Just replaced it with a BBC and now it's in the way. I've sold all the bolt on parts off it and have the long block left with Ka heads on it. Asking $250 for the long block.

Weimans 18" Hull on a single axle trailer in very good condition. Trailer needs a little work in the rear where it caught a chunk of asphalt in the road but nothing major. Boat has a Berkeley pump in great condition.  Was setup with BBC but motor and mounts were removed. Needs TLC, upholstry but very strong foundation. Current trailer tags.  $600 obo.

I just pulled a 455 out of my jet boat and am trying to decide if I want to build a bbc from scratch or find a complete motor. Not looking for big HP, just something to get on the water.
