I would be happy with 550hp. which would be best to obtain the 550. solid or flat tappet... I am still open on my valvetrain, nothing has been purchased for it yet.

DAMN! Thats crazy.. I will take my mild port and polished heads and run em into the ground. I'm not gonna waste that much money on factory heads... I'm sure my motor with dove heads will still out perform ALOT of boats and have alot more power than my last 460... I will get it together, see what i got and go from there. So I never did get an ball park cam size...lol.. Any ideas for my choked down motor cam size?

Yeah most of my money got put into the bottom end. I couldn't manage to squeeze in aluminum heads into the budget for specific reasons (WIFE!)... But I plan to save my side money to buy aluminum heads. Anyways... Since it will "exceed 13:1" what octane will it require with the build I have. What would the proper port and polish cost a guy like me and who would you recommend?

-The pistons were the flat top/pump gas.
-It is going in a 21' jet boat.
-Peak RPM is gonna be 5,500-6,000.
-Carb set-up is gonna be a Weiand tunnel ram with dual 650's.
-I have Fully machined DOVE-C heads that I am going to mildly port and polish to get rid of any casting blemishes.
-MSD distributor, MSD wires, Blaster 2 Coil.
-Gear Drive
-Holley Blue fuel pump
-Main stud girdle

I am in the process of building a stroked out 460. Scat 4.5" stroke crank, Scat 6.8" rods, and probe psitons. I am starting to look into cams and size. I have no idea where to start on cam size. Any ideas? Whats it take to go full roller? I just bought freshly machined DOVE-C heads if it matters. Thanks!

Dove-C heads have a alot higher compression. I am a big fan of compression. Don't get me wrong I had D3VE-A2A heads on my boat for 3 years and never had a problem. Just want more comression for my current build. I posted em in the classifieds for $100obo.

My machinist has a set of Dove-C heads that are freshly machined and have a 3 angle valve job. Are they worth the $400 he is asking?

My crank is 4.5" stroke Scat, with the 6.7" scat rods, and probe flat top pistons. gonna be around 11:1 compression. Wanna stay with iron heads so I can tell all the guys that have 454's that they got whooped by a 460... ;)

Yeah I am trying to figure out if it is worth it for me to sit down and port and polish them... Not sure if i can port them as big as i need them to be.. Do you think I can get away with running some freshly machined Dove C's? I just don't wanna do aluminium, wanna build a solid iron beast...

I would be looking for anything I can use for my new 545 build. I have a short block together. Thats where I stand. I can use tall valve covers, 10qt. oil pan, 850+cfm carb,etc... I have cash to throw on top of any item worth it... I also have pair of D3VE-A2A heads, not sure if I should use them or sell em. know anything about those heads?

Dave did my first set of carbs on my tunnel ram. He does good work. But like everything else in this world it is alot cheaper to do it yourself or have a buddy do it for you. I have since done all my carbs and numerous others for friends. Ended up with what seemed to be the same end prodeuct as dave. Hope you get your carb rebuilt one way or another crusader1983.
