I have those same covers with 2 missing bolts. I went to McMaster to replace them and the stainless ones that long arnt cheap! Let me know if you need the measurement off my bolts to order some up. I planned on emailing one of the Ebay sellers that sell the packages and see where they get the bolts. New is almost the same price as stainless bolts for those things!

Look into these if you have some free time. I know in the description it says external coil but look at the "intructions" tab and it shows you can wire it to your kill wire. I just ordered one so Im not sure if it will work yet or not. Seems like its what I needed though. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ATM-9118/

No matter how safe I was I always get shocked by the damn things. I even wear thick leather (PG&E) gloves and I get a little zap. Thats only when Im setting the mag into the cam gear and it spins itself to set in. Its nothing to worry about, even though youre waiting for it to happen it scares you. As far as when the boats running? Iv adjusted mine 100 times and never even been shocked. Like HD said.. Run good wires and a good grounding wire. Im running a Hunt with internal coil though, maybe yours will be a little different. I was told sometimes the cheap timing lights work better than the nice ones on a mag too. Buzz box is the way to go, but in a pinch I got by with a cheapy timing light and it seemed to work ok.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Winterizing Questions..
« on: November 03, 2011, 06:03:12 AM »
Hey, I know most of you dont have to deal with winterizing your boats but I sure do. I was just wondering if you guys had any tricks to make next seasons first start any easier? All Iv done is run antifreeze through the block then pull the drain plugs on the block aswell. Ill be pulling the carbs off aswell but thats for a rebuild. I still have to drain my fuel tanks and pull the battery. Any other tips while I had to uncovered for the last time until the heat comes back? It gets pretty damn cold in the winter up here (31 degrees right now) and I dont want to forget something stupid.

I bought some 25 dollar off brand carb for my 185 Honda ATC off ebay and was WAY impressed. Threw it in there and it ran great and idled right out of the box. I was so impressed I bought one for my 200x and the same exact thing. I dont know what brand but that Wincycles looks familiar.

The No Wake Zone / Re: general opinion jet or v drive
« on: August 16, 2011, 09:39:21 PM »
Yah, I agree with that. Drive both if you have that option. I love the simplicity of the jet on the lake because of the reverse and no skags so I can just beach em.. Plus rooster tails are pretty legit. I stick with V-Drive because I like the feel of them better. To me Im more in control than with a jet. Plus it takes alot less $$ to go fast!

Im with the diesel coment too.. How many miles? Seems priced right but those V-10s LOVE the fuel.. I know Im on a jet boat sight preaching about fuel mileage but DAMN! Blacks a pain but looks killer when its clean. Im on my 4th black truck and still love em.

« on: July 19, 2011, 09:14:42 PM »
Im to the point after tonight I just have to wire the mag ground and I should be ready to fire her up. My Tach is an Autometer Pro-Comp Ultra lite 2. Couldnt find any serial numbers but I havnt pulled it out of the housing yet. How about ground wire? What gauge wire should I be running?

Iv been looking into the MSD tach deal.. But the one summit shows with that part number has alot less wires than the 6 shown in the diagram. Also.. I was told I have a tach made for a mag (guessing that means an AC tach) Think the MSD would work still? Says transfers the Mag to DC volts. Heres a link to what Im looking at. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-8132/

Sure Does!!!  >:D

Its a Hunt. Ill try and find a picture of the front to show what Im lookin at. I was told these damn things were easy as it gets, I was lied to. I have the whole MSD setup but I love the looks and old school cool of the mag. Guess this is my only pic that really shows the whole thing. Just dropped 300 bucks for a new cam wiper and a test.. Kinda partial to keeping it.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Couple Magneto Questions
« on: July 15, 2011, 07:57:07 PM »
Ok.. Running into a few issues trying to wire my boat to maybe one day get on the water.. Maybe! Here goes.. When I run my Mag kill switch Im supposed to run it to a ground right? Id imagine the kill switch wire goes to the knob near the top of the mag that has a thumb screw. Second question is how do I wire my tach? I was told I have a mag specific tach but really have no idea how to go about wiring it. Thanks guys!

If I had the money it'd be mine.. Cuts through chop like a dream and up here, all we have is chop! He sure doesnt.. May be interested if your offering up. I need more friends with bikes anyway! He did mention no 2wd pickups. Good ol craigslist has been pretty interesting on the trades.
