I have a complete yj im willing to part with, the only thing that wrong is a buddy tryed to remove the bowl so I could strip and repaint it and he didn't see the 2 c clips one the shaft and screwed them up  prior to that it spun freely!

The one I got is a 12wj good condition

How much for the 12WJ.....Sleekcraft I have a complete yj just needs new C clips on the shaft, jack wagon friend of mine was trying to split the bowl so i could strip and repaint it and screwed em up other then that it spun freely.

The YJ has a circlip inside the front of the housing (kinda fun to get to, a LOT of brake cleaner to see it, my friend). The splined end, that is. However, the bowl SHOULD still come off with that still in place. The shaft would simply remain in the suction housing.

Could be simple vacuum giving you fits. Remove the nozzle, or at least, remove the zerk fitting clear up inside there. If it's a really bad bearing in the bowl and/or shaft, gonna take some wiggling and hammerng to get it off.  Idea....... I did one here was to remove the zerk, put in an air hose fitting and hooked up the compressor. Bowl popped right off! Almost ballistical

I kind a figured it should come right off with a little force but it seems as once you start seperating the bowl the impeller gets tight against the inside of the bowl and I was afraid of damaging the impeller. Maybe a liitle more prying and it will slip by?

ok, so heres my question.whats involved with changing a boat from an i/o to a jet or a v-drive??? has anyone done one?

Actually I bought a jet boat as a project and late discovered that it originaly had a egg beater on it and who ever converted it to a jet did a piss poor job  So I scrapped it and bought a real jet boat.

I'm not sure if I can help. I would think the shaft is either bent or the bearing and bushing has a lot of play in it to let the impeller move around like that and touch the bowl. I have a Jacuzzi 12/WJ and mine has a low growl sound at idle sometimes. I disconnected the u joint from engine so I could feel for any roughness, play or noise and my shaft turns very smooth. I could not feel any play or movement in it. I now feel somewhat better about the bearing but I would like to know what this noise is. Did yours make some noise? I would think it would as the impeller touched and ground against the bowl. I would think that if everything feels smooth and the shaft has no movement or play in it, then sand or debris has ground between the moving parts and the bowl.

Can't really say if it made any growling or not being I have never ran it. Its the pump that came with the boat I bought and is a on going project at this stage and was'nt sure what it would take to get the pump operational, plus with funds being a little tight. I do have a complete YJ in good condition but really did not want to go backwards and install it. I may also add the WJ was completely taking apart and is needing some small parts here and there. I just need to look at the parts break down to see what is needed. Im just not sure if the bowl is ok to use due to the groove in it.
