Ok the the lifting eye bolt broke and motor fell about 2 to 3 feet.  :banghead:I diddnt find the damage until installing mount bracket. didn't break off but cracked across lower bell housing, will welding it be risky?

I know I was warned!! so I paid 200 for it.    now I have it home and Im learning things! the casal has no shifter, so does that mean it needs a trany?  or its in gear at all times? Its got lots of stringer rails and other stuff!  so Im looking to buy stuff!  does any one have a w/pump and v style timing cover for a 455 olds. any one know what hull this is?

 Hey all! its been a while! Ok heres the situation! got a flat bottom v-drive now! Took me a year!!   One stringer has been removed and needs to go back in! the guys giving me all the materials... but as we all have that thing for speed, should I have this done at a shop??  I have assymbled comp boats, offshores, and yachts! but I have always had someone alse do glass work! should I save up and have some one else fix it?

 21' mini daycruiser,   has fresh 460, legend (berkley) set back pump w/ride plate. upolstry needs to be finished. has bimini top, just registered,  needs dist module(mallory unilite) 460- performer intake, 750dp, twin 15gal imco tanks!  Must sell!!   2500 OBO!

Ok Im going v-drive! selling my jet! Fresh  stock 460(.020) over, performer intake, 750 DP, legend pump(A-impeller). mallory unilite dist. needs module! pump may need thrust bearing. has bimini top also... uplolstry will need to be finished!  just registered! tandem trailer.  I just put this boat together! took it out 3 times, 45 min each time! it ran till I shorted out the dist module tring to upgrade ign coils!  Ok my u-joints were a little stiff, I greesed them till they felt ok. greesed bearing @ front of pump. Is it ok to use merc hiperf gear lube? how far off can alighnment be? It's kinda noisy back!

my spare alt is a motorola 12v 55amp alt, is this OK?   will this peg my 50amp gauge or is it only 55amp when a major charge or load is required? I know new boats require a greater amperage due to the greater draws(ecu,injection,and other stuff) all I have is stereo ,blower,amps, 2 bildge pumps, and lights.

 Ok motors in! running and the amp gauge wasnt working. I went under dash and found a blown 20amp fuse, change it start up, gauge works but fuse blows. now I work on boats for a living! all have volt meters.  expeirence says theres a 90 amp fuse @ starter from alt. so I put one in. orange wire goes from rear term block to volt metr, a wire goes from meter to where?  do I put it on the B+ on key switch? I already know it doesnt go to ign on switch (gives constant + to ign, no shut off!) I do rember reading the forum about wiring, dont rember seeing any thing bout amp gauge wiring! Trying to do the holiday here on the delta! will there be too much amperage for the b+ wire at the switch? am I over thinking this?

   Being in the industry, I do rember that OMC used center rise manifolds on the 460 King Cobra, I know they were cast iron and heavy, but they were inexpensive. after blowing my first 429, I came across a wrecked (1987 Bayliner) that the boat yard I worked at was cutting up! the motor had 78hrs on it! I stuck the 429 heads on the block and WOW!  after 2 years with TRW 2404 pistons, a stock short block woke up my 79, 19' phantom!  This was the first time I found a true flattop piston (flat with 1 valve relief) in a stock motor! OH by the way those pistons were stamped ford, and carried an industrial part #, and were $68 each my cost. but back to the manifolds, wouldn't these work good w/stainless risers? I/O's use merc manifolds w/after market risers.. I mean they must flow better than logs! I think barr osco still has some... I have a 21 mini day so I'm not worried bout the weight!

hey I have posted questions in the engine tec area gotten rapid response! I am a newby to this site and I dont think I'll ever look for any other site!  scream and fly was open to too wide of a range! THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE!!! but back to my question, my boat was painted 12 years ago still looks good except where the fuel fills are!  you can tell they didn't use gelcoat! I work in the marine industry and this wouldn't have happened! It was painted at a custom auto shop. this I know as it belonged to a friend. I luv the candy reds and purples used, this took months to do! BUT I would prefer the boat to be pristene.... should I strip it and start over!

heres my delima' I have 2 sets of heads! 1 set of D2VE AA heads.  set of D3VE A2A heads. which are better to use till I save up for the good trick heads?
