The No Wake Zone / Anybody want a dog?
« on: July 12, 2015, 12:34:37 PM »
Need to find a home for this guy...our neighbors had to move and couldn't take him with.   This is Tyson, pit mixed with something...possibly Dane?  We're taking care of him for the time being...but it's tough because our yard isn't big dog proof, only little dog proof.  He gets along great with other dogs, likes to play fetch but we're still working on "drop it".  Great with kids.   Up to date on shots, but still has his manhood.   If anyone is interested, let me know.  We're in long beach

It's a step down from the cobalt, but the price was right.  $300, with a "fresh" AQ130/AQ170 Penta setup.  Needs some TLC.   Now I have a shitbox for the river and another for the ocean...any words of wisdom...aside from scuttle the ship?

I figured the tires were worth what I bought it for, so I couldn't lose....too much

The No Wake Zone / Starting a small business in SoCal
« on: August 07, 2014, 08:40:39 PM »
As some of you know, I work for Centric Parts/Stoptech.

We sell parts, we don't service them.  I'd like to start a business rebuilding our BBK calipers for customers, as well as machining brake rotors...properly for customers who's only other option is to buy new ones at $300/piece.  I have all the equipment to do it.  I have the boss's blessing, and would like to start out small.  None of our distributors offer these services, so I can get referrals from them.

I'd like to also sell service parts.

I want to start this out of my garage, but can find an industrial address to use for the official business...for free.

I know I'll need a resellers permit and a business license from the city I'm registered in, but do I need anything else if O don't have any employees?  If I only sell services, rather than resell parts, do I even need a resale number?...I might have a workaround for resale stuff.

The No Wake Zone / bilge pump help
« on: May 04, 2014, 11:28:21 AM »
I have a ModVP type tunnel, and because wakeboard boats, it's constantly taking on water.  My problem is that the outer sponsons fill up and I've got no way to empty them except with my kids squirt gun or pulling the plugs.  I can't put a bilge pump in each sponson because the gas tanks go all the way to the transom and fill up all but about an inch of the sponson.

J-drains would work, but I don't like they stick open if a piece of debris gets in 'em, so that's off the table.

I was thinking of setting up kind a piece of tube hanging off the back of the boat just touching the water in hopes that it would create enough vacuum to suck the water out, but I have no idea if that would work.

a self priming pump with accomodations for a hose on the suction side would work, but I've got no idea where to start looking for those, as most are listed for specific applications, rather than listed by how they work.

any ideas?  I have to pump it either out of the boat or just into the center keel, where I have a bilge pump.  Also trying to keep it under a million dollars.

The No Wake Zone / going towards a good cause
« on: January 08, 2014, 10:34:38 PM »
Brad, if this isn't appropriate...then please delete it.

I haven't posted here since summer ended...been busy.  Kyle is 3 now, and he's a full time job.  I spend some time on Pirate4x4.com.  We've got a fellow member over there who had an accident on his wedding night in 2009...dove into a pool, hit the bottom, shattered 2 vertibrae, made him a quadripaligic.  I've been following his recovery since then, he's local to me, in Redondo beach.  He went from relatively neck down paralysis to carting his happy ass around in a manual chair, and is planning on doing a 5K race next month.  We've got a thread going, hidden from Frank, in which we're trying to raise money to, at the very least, get him a set of spinergy race wheels for his chair...because of the lower rolling resistance.  He has very good bicept strength, but limited tricept, hand, and core strength.  These wheels will help him kick ass.  The thread has been running for 2 days now, and we've got over $2000.  The wheels he wants are about $800.  This guy wants, and needs, independence.  We're trying to get to 5 digits by the end of the month...we want to set him up with an electronic dock for his power chair in his van so he doesn't has to take his caretaker with him everywhere, we'd really like to buy him a race chair instead of putting a set of badass wheels on the shitty chair he has now.

I'm in contact with the director of the rehab gym where he spends 3 days a week....she's fully on board helping us figure out what he wants to improve his quality of life and put a smile on his face...A few of us from Pirate are gonna be doing a bunch of work on his van and at his house while he's at the race.

and a lot of us though we had problems...

If any of you guys have a few extra bucks to throw at this, it would be appreciated.  He's not a boater, but knowing what I know of him....if I could make the chair float and get him in the boat, he'd join us at the river...which just might happen.

another member has a paypal acct. setup...if you want to kick $20 or so down to help a gearhead recover and progress...send me a PM.  There WILL BE a followup posted here of what we were able to do for him...with pictures.

Thanks.

PS.  I'll try to post more...just don't have much time lately.  miss you assholes....especially Hallet Dave.

The No Wake Zone / Ain't the same as it used to be
« on: August 31, 2013, 10:36:51 PM »
I'm sitting here in front of my trailer, my 3y/o Asleep inside.  Momma left with some girls on a golf cart to the bar.  A mixture of good music and flat biller crap playing on any one of the 30 golf carts, half of which are driven by kids under 13, that have driven through the park in the last 15 minutes.

I'm about ready to find a nice property in Blythe to buy and bring my kid up like I was brought up at the river....where parents used to parents and kids used to be kids.

Kyle made a few friends today...one of which was a 4y/o girl..and she kept punching him.  The parents were too busy drinking beer to give a shit.  He knows not to hit, especially girls, so he dealt with it.

We had a chat...little bitch will be laid out tomorrow if she pulls that shit again...and I might just be too busy drinking beer to notice.

WTF happened to the river?

The No Wake Zone / Who here smokes?
« on: June 23, 2013, 01:38:56 AM »
Never thought I'd make a post like this.  Everyone I know who smokes wants to quit, and have tried a few times.  A good buddy of mine recently made the switch to E-cigs from cowboy killers.  He made it 2 weeks without a smoke and is going strong.....I reluctantly joined the game...smoked for 17 years, got an e- cig on Tuesday and have smoked less than 3 since then... mostly to make sure they still tasted like ass.

This thread is to hopefully help at least one take the first step...,it's an amazing feeling to be able to take a proper deep breath again.

On top of that, between the wife and I, we're saving about $400/month.
