Boat Showcase / Inherited a circle boat?advice welcomed
« on: May 08, 2023, 11:35:39 AM »
Well, the wife just had to have a second vessel in the stable. She grew up in it, so I guess I might as well bring back some of that glory, right?

85 Bahner 19?, full stringer, feels like an insanely light layup
Pedantic 350 sbc, 12jg
Hits about 60 with 2 adults in it. Enjoyable but?.just not enough..

I don?t have much of a back story on this boat. If anyone has anything, I?d love to learn more about it. Definitely need someone to look at the hull and let me know if I should even put the money and time into at least making it a fun little sandbar ripper to play in. Ain?t made of money, so it?ll be a long slow project while we use our 21 Caribbean.

Plans for winter:
-clean
-pull bench seat, research buckets
-clean more
-check/fix/replace any bad or ugly wiring
-pull the jet apart, replace bearing and reseal (minimum)
-reseal the transom plate
-get cav plates functional again
-and learn how to use them
-engine maintenance, minimal beautification
-find a guy to paint the new AZ numbers on and maybe redo all the logos around the hull
-research safety equipment

Plans for future:
- home refurb?d junkyard LS
- replace all gauges
- replace steering wheel
- learn to REALLY drive it.

Haven’t seen many LS boats here, not commonly at least. Would be kind of cool to see a similar style build go into a jet boat. 200k mile work truck block with a cam and big turbo making 1000+.

Edit: okay he did make this on spray, but the price point is good.

Lower River / Winter boating?
« on: September 21, 2017, 09:21:50 AM »
Did some searching but didn't turn over anything super useful, unless I didn't go back far enough. Who knows?

Anyway, anyone here ever go out on the water in the winter months? I'm curious how the water levels are around those months like November to January. Obviously it'll be cold as all hell, but I figured why not enjoy some water while the river is less populated.

Lower River / Blythe shallow areas
« on: May 22, 2017, 01:24:03 PM »
First off, I did some searching first before posting. Didn't find much.

On to my obviously noobie question, what do y'all do to navigate over shallow areas going up river? Water level was up pretty good this past weekend so I went past the sandbar a bit and still went over some areas that looked sketchy to me. Obviously I avoid areas with buoys on submerged trees and ripples coming off of submerged rocks, and that rocky point sticking off of waterwheel but what about clear open areas that just open up to shallows?

Our family stays in Blythe and I'm getting a little bored of just going up to the sandbar and back. I've been up to the water tower a few times but that's about it. I'm lookin to burn some gas and do some good long floats downriver.

The No Wake Zone / (jet) Boating Essentials
« on: May 12, 2016, 11:27:57 AM »
Gentlemen!

I've searched a bit and haven't found anything. If there is a post I missed, please forgive me  :banghead:

I've been "boating" with family most of my life, although never owned my own until now!

I'm looking for a list of essentials to keep on the boat. ie. tools, spare hoses, clamps, zip ties etc. As well as first aid/emergency stuff (maybe a foam football for stuffing a hole if something catastrophic happened, learned from someone else's bad experience lol.

This topic may have already been beaten to death. But if it has, I haven't been able to find it.
Any takers?
