Engine Mechanical / Electrical / need help puzzled
« on: September 15, 2012, 11:41:09 am »
:banghead: ok guys hears the deal built my motor up a couple seasons back and it has been flawless. have taken it to el cap 3 times this season with no issues but decided to make a trip to the river and started blowing oil out the breather and getting warm not hot but ran up to 180 which it never does! :screwy: so i pulled up to the sandbar and took a quick look I had oil on the driver side only coming from the valve cover breather so I just decided to enjoy the weekend get a tow, trailer it, and catch a ride with friends. now im home and pulled the plugs number one cylinder got hot but all other plugs look fine can someone help shed some opinion on this. should I tear it down? it doesnt even wanna crank over now and the motor only has like 100 hours maybe!......Mike

Jet Pumps / need guru opinions!
« on: February 09, 2011, 10:53:14 pm »
Ok guys I think its time for a pump rebuild. Last season started getting some whining out of the pump and tried to pull a tube and the boat just fell on its face cavitating matter of fact if I tried to hole shot it it would just cavitate but if I slow rolled it and got it up on plane it would get me where I need to go and still maintain a great top speed 62-65 mph. Be honest I already have a gutt feeling anyway! I wanna do this rebuild myself I just enjoy knowing every nut and bolt I havnt done one in the past but wouldnt mind saving the money on a pump rebuild from a local shop. give me the need to knows!

Interior / marine grade carpet
« on: September 14, 2009, 11:33:05 pm »

Hey i've seen some comments on here while looking for options on some carpet for my boat and have seen home depot and lowes mentioned. After checking the local marine shops and there inflated pricing I decided to check the big guys out, lowes was bit of a dissapointment both stores dont have much of a selection as most would guess but lowes would not even offer different colors as a s/o option. Home depot is not much on in house selection either but they do have marine grade carpet available for order in there online format and had I think about 7 different colors to choose from. The best thing about it was the price, their carpet only runs $5.95 a LF! I bought a 6 x 20 roll of carpet for $119.00 bucks everywhere else was gonna be a minimum $250 for the same size remnant!

Now I am not comparing the quality at this point only the price seeing as i have not installed or used the product yet but will keep you guys posted. Just thought i would pass this along in case someone else needs to save a buck in the off season on a recarpet.
(note) the carpet is only available online @

see ya,

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / HELP!
« on: January 22, 2009, 08:36:24 pm »
Pulled the motor on my boat to do some maintenance gasket changes etc. the motor was rurnning great but went to drain the oil and got a free milkshake! Is it an absolute that the headgaskets are wasted or what other option could it be. The guy that I bought the boat from didnt keep it covered and the last rainstorm he had filled the hull with water could it make its way into the pan? Also saw him running the hose to this motor without it running heard that could bleed into the motor? do I just pull the heads for peice of mind or what?
