Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Temp issues

My engine is heating up to 220 at idle. I have the gate valve open all the way. Runs on plain around 160-170. It’s a new engine so I know the it’s not a sand blockage issue. Plumbing is correct. 460 Ford. Mildly built. Any thoughts?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Oil pressure dropped to zero

460 with 2 hours on it. Put it on the lake today to get ready for summer. Was running fine, temps were good, oil pressure at 65-70 then I noticed the engine start to get a little sluggish. Noticed oil pressure was at ZERO. Shut it down and let it cool off thinking maybe the oil foamed up. Fired it up again, no strange noises, oil pressure still zero. Has a brand new Melling oil pump and ARP shaft. Dooley 10 quart with windage tray. Any thoughts?

460 Maine Camshaft. (Came stock with packajet 460. FREE!

460 valve covers. FREE!

460 cast iron CJ Intake manifold. FREE!

Flame arrestor. Aluminum 3x5" $25

Holley 650 cfm. Needs rebuild. $25

WTB / Jet o vator steering tube bearing

Hey guys. Looking for an old school steering tube bearing for a jetovator. Mine finally cracked in half. Wanted to see if anyone on here had an old one laying around they want to sell.
I found them on the berkeleys site but they want $100 for them. It's a small piece of plastic and I'm having trouble paying $100 for one.

I bought a new spark arrestor that does not have a provision for the tube that runs from the marine fuel pump. Is it ok to hook it up to an empty vacuum port on the carb or is that a bad idea?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / 460 roller rocker question

I had my d3ve heads machined to accept some comp cams roller rockers. After installing the studs , guide plates, and pushrods, they all lined up nicely with the exception of cylinder # 8. The roller on both the intake and exhaust hangs over the valve tip about .050 toward the front of the engine. Will this cause a problem or can I call it good?

The piston stop I was using with my degree wheel left tiny indents on the top of my piston like it had a sharp point. Should this be of concern?

Having trouble degreeing my cam on 460. Gears are installed straight up. From TDC I'm rotating clockwise to max lift. Zero dial. Turn to .050. Record number (45). Back up past max lift to .050. Record number (141). Divide by 2. This gives me 93. Numbers are way off. Should be 108. What am I doing wrong ?

Does anyone know what the torque specs are for the stand offs that thread onto the main cap bolts for the windage tray. Or do I just tighten them with red lock tite?

Just got my quick fuel marine 850 in the mail. Beautiful carburetor but a slight problem.
The linkage for the choke is hanging up on the side of the spark arrester. (Pictured)Has anyone else had this problem?

Jet Pumps / Transom plate sealing

How many of you use the gasket between the transom and plate? Is it better to throw it in the trash and just use silicone?
Also the last guy that rebuilt my pump didn't use the o ring between the bowl and transom plate. He just stuffed it with silicone. It never leaked but was a bitch to remove.
Thoughts?

I have log manifolds with the 2 7/8 hose fittings. I've heard of people machining the flange off so it will accept a 3 1/2 inch hose. Has anyone on here done this? If so, does it make that much of a difference or is it not worth the price of machining and new exhaust tips??

Holley 750 cfm marine carburetor. Vacuum secondary and electric choke. 76 main jets and 6.5 power valve. Just put a fresh rebuild kit in it 2 weeks ago. Selling it because I'm moving to an 850.
Asking $275

Intake manifold. Cast iron BBF cobra jet with big runners. Has some surface rust and could use a paint job. Great intake. Just heavy. I understand these also make a fine boat anchor.
Make an offer.

Oil pan. Stock BBF front sump. No dings, dents, or cracks. Just needs some paint.
$100 OBO

Today I was told with the build I am doing on my 460 I will have to step up from a 750 to an 850. He recommended the Holley 4781c and can get me a good deal on it (cheaper than summit anyway). However my boat is wired for electric choke and these are manual. Do I just cap off the wires? Also my engine is under a hatch and these are not marine carbs. Is that a big deal? Auto engines are technically under a hatch also......

The 6" hose between the cap and the tank is seized and leaking. Anyone know of a good trick to get these out without blowing myself up?
