Hello all, I just joined the board... my first post  I just purchased this boat about a month ago, 73 Avenger 454BBC, took it out a few times and now it needs some work(engine coughs a wide open throttle and at max going about 25-30mph) a motor mechanic told me my engine was healthy so it is probably something else, took it down to Wilkes Marine and they said I need a rebuild on my Berkeley along with a few minor things. Another thing is the boat is painted but there are chips and flaking at random places so we sanded down a few random spots and uncovered what looks like decent gelcoat(metal flaked red and silver) should I sand it down or am I going to uncover/reveal some hull damage? Anyways just thought I would ask here if anyone has worked on or seen this boat before and can give me some history... THANKS Bryant
