Events / Clear Lake Minnesota Boating Event June 26
« on: June 21, 2010, 07:06:31 PM »
Sat. June 26 there will be a day of boating on Clear Lake. A couple of buoys will be dropped at 1000 ft. and there will happen to be a pontoon with flags at one end if anybody would want to test their rigs.
There will also be a radar gun present for testing purposes.
Clear Lake is North of New Ulm and South of Gibbon a few miles. The launch is located on the northwest side of the lake. Easiest to do is to turn south at Gibbon and drive til you see the launch on your left......
There are a few new additions to the boats running this year and I think that a few classes will have new competition for the top places. There may be some of these new setups at the lake that day.....

I'm running a BBF 460ci. with Hardin logs and Rewarder over the transom pipes with baffles. I have been told by a sheriff who tested my decible level that my boat is too loud so I got a warning ticket & I also got a warning ticket from a DNR officer. I'm tempted to buy some used snails & run my exhaust through the transom. My boat has never had threw transom exhaust. Any help with my issue will be greatly appreciated. I really want to get on the water but I do not want a $300 fine. If someone has some used snails they want to sell I might be interested or if anyone knows of a baffle that will get me in the legal range that would be great. Thanks.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Fuel tank vent problems.
« on: May 27, 2010, 04:43:18 PM »
I have a jet boat with a fuel tank mounted in the bow of the boat. It has a factory vent mounted on the boat with a 5/8 fuel line running to hit. When I'm using the boat I ocasionaly have fuel coming out of the vent. Is there any way to prevent this? It is starting to stain my boat :-( any help would be greatly apreciated.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / 460ci Jet Boat boggs and dies. :-(
« on: May 18, 2010, 05:45:15 PM »
1 month ago I purchased a 1976 Holmes Horizon Jet Boat. It has a 460ci. engine and berkley jet drive. Before I put it in the water I had to rebuild the carb. When I put it in the water it did not run very well. I checked the cap & rotor & I checked the plugs for proper gap. It ran a little better but when I punch it it boggs and dies. It then takes a bit for it to run again. It idles perfectly & has no misses. I since have tried a new fuel pump and replaced the carb with a known working carb and it still does the same thing. I take it out run it at 3000 to 4000 rpm and it runs great, as soon as I punch it, it will take off and then bogg and die. Is my coil giving me problems or maybe my distributor or the ballist resistor? It has a marine points distributor. I'm a small time mecahnic and this thing has me baffled. It never skips a beat until I punch it. After that it starts hard and boogs at low rpm. after waiting for a minute or 2 it starts right up and runs great until I punch it. Any help would be much apreciated.
