The No Wake Zone / Labor Day
« on: August 15, 2014, 08:15:00 AM »
Just wanted to know who's going where for labor day weekend? Wife and I will be at big river from Thursday till Monday afternoon.

Hulls / Before I start...
« on: August 14, 2014, 09:22:18 PM »
...cutting, my eyelid this weekend got loose.  I guess sometime during transport or docking it ran itself back into the front of my hull and created 2 bigger holes where it was bolted down. The holes Aren't big enough to make the lid useless I did tow it back from bug river but it is sitting in there loosely.

I figured I'd just take the lid off, stick some silicone in it and tighten the bolts. But my problem is now way no how can I crawl  underneath this hull. The bulkhead hole in the center is barely big enough to squeeze a life jacket in let alone a 6'1 200 lbs man.

Bulkhead is glassed in and pretty solid don't really wanna cut it out and reglass everything. At least not this close to the river season being over.

Can I just cut a bigger hole into the bulkhead for me to fit through and take care of my lid? Or should I just cut it and make a new bulkhead with a bigger hole in the center to fit a human being through?

Keep in mind fellas I have 0 fiberglass, wood experience which means either try and fail which we all have done the first time or take a saw to the bulkhead and make a bigger hole.

I know I know, pics say it all. Its too dark now so I'll take some hopefully tomorrow but at this point any suggestion is appreciated.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / U joint replacement
« on: August 11, 2014, 01:53:01 PM »
Took the yellow turd out this weekend and got her wet for the first time. She ran great but my only concern was a ringing/grinding noise coming from my flywheel. Only if I get on the gas too fast. Sounded to my like the flywheel was hitting the cover.

After talking to a couple of guys they all said it's time for some u joints. Before I dig into and replace the joints I guess my questions would be...

1 Does that sound right? Is it u joint time?

2 Never replaced u joints on a boat does the motor have to come out or slightly lifted?

3 Tips or tricks for the easiest way to slap new u joints in...Thx in advance fellas preciate it!

The No Wake Zone / Absolute BS!!!

Some of you fellas might have read my little steering issue. Hondo T Deck with an original frozen cable. No way can I just buy a replacement so it's time to convert to teleflex which I did. Hole in my dash is too big so my guy fabbed up an adopter plate, problem solved right? Wrong! Old steering hub extension won't fit on the teleflex so I'm assuming just buy another one right? Wrong!...

This jetboat industry is simply becoming a monopoly. In all honesty how many marine shops are out there that have parts in stock when we need them and prices are somewhat decent? None!

I simply need a 6 inch steering hub extension for my frigging t deck!!! That's it!!! At this time it's simply impossible to find a stupid aluminum metal billet piece without taking it up the kiester without vasoline.

Saw them at Rex marine for 62 bucks, yeah right, 2 month back order lol. That place is a frigging joke. Called the diverter place in BP they redirect me to something performance up north. They want 180 bucks plus shipping for the same piece. Wtf? Really triple the price?  By the time it gets to me I'll be paying 4x the price. I rather die lol. Went to a local marine shop in lake elsinore, the old man that was helping me was shaking so bad and was so old I thought he was gonna drop right then and there...told me he can order it Monday morning and have it there by Thursday. Why monday? I went in at 11am on Friday. Why not order it now. His response was "I'm not sure"...

WTB / Wtb: Steering wheel extension etc.
« on: July 22, 2014, 05:52:29 PM »
Ok fellas some of you have read my previous posts on here about my t deck steering rack fiasco....Bought a teleflex rack and got an adapter for it now I'm in search for a column extension and steering wheel. Guess the good ol 3 bolt steering wheel isn't doing it anymore cause they don't make extensions for it anymore...

Before I dump 300 into a column extension and steering wheel I figured I'd ask here first.

Don't care what color the extension is or what type of steering wheel just trying to get her wet.

Call or text Bemko 9517196641.

Haven't seen the boys in over 2 years. They youngest one doesn't even remember me....sad but it's reality. Like I said I just wanna show them a good and unforgettable time.

Anybody going that weekend? Hopefully I'll have my t deck up and running by then...i think not hehe. This thing is a never ending project lol.

The No Wake Zone / Found a little gem...
« on: July 05, 2014, 10:48:46 PM »
So I was fighting my steering cable issue for 2 months now. Had an old mercruiser type of setup on my t deck which was a rack type. After taking it all apart and posting pics on here most people told me just to go buy a teleflex rack setup bolt it up and call it a day...i did that matter of fact I bought 2 different setups from 2 members on here. After dumping 200 bucks into the setups I realized my hole in the dash was way too big to bolt the teleflex system up.

I had 2 choices, machine a adapter plate that would have bolted onto the dash and the teleflex system would've bolted right up to that or glass the hole and cut a new one. Glassing and cutting the right way at a shop would've cost about 600 bucks and adapter plate to work properly about bueno in my mind cause I didn't even know if the vessel will float. Never got her wet. So I kind of gave up on the float and let her sit around for about a month.

Today I decided to say f it and take the old and new setup in to a local good friend of mine. He's retired, 75 years old, fabricator. Thought he would do it for about 200 bucks...He looked at the old setup and said "why don't you just replace the cable". I figured old man doesn't know much about boats so I explained to him that I called all boat shops gave them the original setup part number and brand and they told me I'd have to switch to a newer style steering because that one came in the boat originally and the company went out of business in 92.
I told the old man that the boat is a 76 and if that steering setup lasted till last year that's almost a 40 year run. I'd love to get that much out of a rack system. Old Man agreed with me and told me "they don't make sht like they used to anymore" but he explained to me that he has a guy in lake elsinore and he'll swing by and call me. I just thought to myself "alright old man good luck" i said good bye to him and drove away.

Sure enough 2 hrs later my phone rings, it's the old man. He gives me an address to a private property in lake elsinore and tells me he'll meet me there in 15 min. I drove over there immediately and met him. When I got there he explained to me that this house is his buddies from high school and his buddy doesn't like strangers there so he had to come with me.

When I met his friend and he took me into the back yard onto the property I couldn't believe my eyes...3-4 acres of nothing but containers filled with boat parts. Anything you can possibly think of...A whole container with nothing but outboard engines brand new in crates. Old man's friend was sitting on a gold mine.

After he looked at my old setup he read the brand and part number on the side of the rack and just said "this is a good one, got something for ya, follow me". He knew exactly which container it was, opened it up and voila nothing but new steering cables, any length brand etc you could possibly ever need or look for. It was the exact replacement cable I needed. Needless to say I bought 2. Old Man didn't give a Sht about the money told me to enjoy. Needless to say I still slipped him 100 bucks and thanked him very much.

The reason for the story is, if you guys have been looking for a part that most of these stores don't have can't get etc. Lmk and I'll talk to old man river.

Just trying to help out fellow members.

I asked my buddy al where his friend got all those containers from and he explained to me that in the late 90s early 2000 his buddy won an auction  at a shipping company which were sealed never opened containers. Nobody else bid on it because they didn't have the space for all those containers and if he remembers correctly he bought the whole lot for 1000 bucks lol.

The No Wake Zone / 460 mech fuel pump
« on: July 05, 2014, 04:46:20 PM »
Hey fellas getting ready to fire this thing up and try to have it running on the hose. Came with a 460 bbf...I'm a chevy guy so I have no clue where to look for a block number on this motor.

She came with a electric fuel pump and the mech fuel pump has been blocked off. The electric gave out on me, shocker, so I'd like to throw in a mechanical which is super reliable and bullet proof in my opinion not to mention will provide more the. Enough fuel for this stocker. Not to mention the mechanical pump is 30 bucks and a decent electric is 140...not including the fuel pressure regulator and plumbing. I like the KISS theory.

My question I guess would be what year make and model of ford do I give to the local car parts guy, autozone o'reilly or napa in order to get the right fuel pump?

WarZone / A little rant...
« on: June 30, 2014, 08:41:23 PM »
Too profile or not to profile that is the question...???

I'm a small business owner, I started my company 2 years ago did everything by the book and worked my way up slowly. Just 2 weeks ago I bought new equipment with the idea of hiring a new/first employee. I paid hundreds of dollars for my add to be visible on numerous job websites and I got over 60 applications/resumes. Out of all those one gentleman stood out...13 years experience in the field clean record, married 4 kids. Only 2 downfalls were spent 3 years in jail supposedly "innocent" and 5'5 250 lbs (job is very physically demanding). Nevertheless in the interview/training he said "I can do this job with my eyes closed and my arms tied behind my back, no worries". I asked him how come he hasn't had a job in 3 years, he said "nobody wants to give me a chance cause I spent 3 years in prison for something I didn't do".

I felt bad for the guy. I had friends in the same position so I decided to give him a shot.

Sure enough on his first day he quit. He told me he wouldn't leave me hanging cause I gave him a chance when nobody else would and he'd work till I find somebody else to fill the position. Needless to say, bs. He quit on me 2 days later for good. I wasn't mad I figured that's what I get for giving somebody a chance.

The kicker: I sent him over an agreement on his first and last paycheck. For 2 and half days of work he made 375 bucks and I guess he thought different. Hung up the phone on me told me to go f myself. In any other situation I would've laughed it off and moved on. This was a bit different. He had the keys to my equipment and my fuel card which thank god the daily limit was set at 400 bucks.

I had to get the authorities involved to get my property back!

I didn't want to hire him because he was 5'5 250 lbs and I know this job is very physically demanding. My wife didn't want me to hire him cause of his 3 years in the joint. I wanted to give him a chance cause none of my buddies had a 2nd chance, my wife didn't care about his weight.

Any small business owners out there with the same experience? Any pointers in future hiring? Profile or not to profile???

The No Wake Zone / Is anybody watching the world cup???

Just curious guys if anybody oh here is into the world cup? What team?

The No Wake Zone / Need one of these...
« on: June 14, 2014, 04:59:21 PM »
Finally took my steering apart this weekend. Thought I could just slap another rack and pinion type steering in but I was wrong...does anybody know wtf this is? Can I convert to another type of setup? Does anybody have a working one sitting around. The cable is frozen up can't get it to free up.

The No Wake Zone / Scoop opinion...
« on: June 10, 2014, 05:15:00 PM »
Need your guys opinion on this scoop. Didn't want to go with the usual super tall scoop that almost everybody has on their float so I decided on this one...

I guess my first question would be Yay or nay to run  this scoop???

Second question is, paint the scoop black with silver stripes or yellow with black stripes.

Need someone else besides me to visualize it cause wife doesn't give a fu+k as long as she's on the water lol.

Any input is greatly appreciated and I can take criticism. Btw the whole hull is yellow with silver all over it, interior is white and yellow. My front wind screen is black the splash guard is black and the pump is black. Headers will be coated black and the valve covers black.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Scoop ideas...
« on: May 28, 2014, 09:48:47 PM »
I'm looking for some input on scoops...seem to me like everybody and their mother is running a fiberglass scoop nowadays (no offense towards anybody) just don't want to be another guy running the same scoop on another jet boat...boring!!!

I'd like to see some other setups or if it hasn't been done and you are a fabricator and have some ideas please pm me. I just don't want to be another schmuck at the lake or river running the tall fiberglass scoop. Please don't nobody take any offense to this post I just want to see what else is out there.
