Engines / Engine Parts For Sale / FS 455
« on: January 12, 2015, 01:14:01 PM »
For sale is an Oldsmobile 455. I don't know much about the motors internals, since we just picked up the boat. I do know that it has an edelbrock torquer intake HEI ignition and what looks to be a rather new Dooley jet pan. The motor fires right up and idles with 40 plus psi oil pressure. And has a nice lope to it at idle. Motor also comes with the Bassett headers pictured the ski tow and the polished four point mounts. Come see the motor run before I pull it. All I want is the carb and sending units for my gauges. $1000 takes the whole package  my cell number is (661) 476-9351

Boat Showcase / Some of Dad's boats
« on: March 15, 2013, 10:21:43 PM »
Finally broke down and bought a scanner to put some of my pictures into the digital age. So, I figured I would scan some of my Dad's old water hot rods into my laptop to share with the gang.

First is hid old Miller, complete with faux wood deck.(that's me in the drivers seat age 5)

Secont is Dad's last jet he owned. It is a Haskell with a 454/panther. I loved that boat and tried to buy it twice brofre I bought my Sanger. But when I brought up the fact that I heard the boat had sunk, and asked if it had happened under the sellers ownership. The seller magically didnt want to sell the boat any more.(guess that was a yes)I didnt care if it was sunk or not, I wanted Dads old boat back :screwy:

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Popping noise
« on: June 11, 2012, 08:28:05 PM »
Hi all, I just put a new motor in my boat this season and when I run it it has a popping sound from the exhaust at idle. When idling for a while ( like through a long no wake zone) the boat acts like its loading up and wants to die. Tonight I pulled the plugs and they have almost no color to them, witch normally indicate the motor is too lean. The motor is a 460 ford with 73 heads, and an 800 double pumper mech secondary. Also running a Pertronix flame thrower billet dizzy. The plugs are Delco MR43T's gapped at .044. I am stumped and any help is appreciated.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Anyone ever seen this before
« on: February 26, 2012, 10:43:11 AM »
Today I decided to pull apart the carb that I had on the boat and rejet it so It could e out back on a smaller motor. When I pulled the bowls off the insides look like they are peeling( blistered and almost like a dried up river bed). My questions are if any o you have seen this before, what would cause this, and finally is it safe to strip all that shit out of there(what I am doing now) clean and run it? It I like slag almost, if you hit it with a screwdriver or tool it will break off.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Hardware for Mounts
« on: February 04, 2012, 11:38:03 AM »
I know this topic has been beaten to death, and most use black oxide for their motor mounts. I am using stainless hardware for the mounts to the stringers and stringer feet to the stringers..... My question is. McMaster Carr has stainless hardware in the lengths I need in 18-8 stainless, is this comporable to grade5 steel? Is it less, or better? I now most stainless is like grade2 at the hardware store unless noted. I want to order the right stuff the first time. All help is appreciated.

The No Wake Zone / Ever Been Burned by a Board Member
« on: January 25, 2012, 08:49:03 PM »
Just as the title says. Long story short, bought some parts from a member in September, they were not as described and  I had given ample opportunity to make good on the deal as agreed to by the seller. But here were are months later and still no close to this deal. I wanted to take the nice guy approach since this is a fairly small group, but so far this has not gotten me anywhere. I know what has to be done to resolve this issue. and have already put it in motion. Just feel it should have never come to this  Overall very dissapointed in the whole deal.

Well over the long weekend I decided to finally pull the motor out of the boat and see what exactly went wrong with the motor. Turns out it spin the number 5 rod bearing and was ready to spin number 6. Sorry for the crappy cell pics, sun was going down quick. Bearing on the right was #5

Random Boat Parts For Sale / FS exhaust snails
« on: August 29, 2011, 07:38:05 PM »
I have a set of Edelbrock 3" exhaust snails that originally came on my boat. they are very nice with only a few superficial scratches. they still have a decent polish on them and would take very little to bring them back to looking like new. All plugs and fittings are brass so no risk of pulling the treads if you wish to remove them. Asking $150 obo

Random Boat Parts For Sale / logs and OT pipes
« on: August 28, 2011, 12:05:33 PM »
Just like the title says, I have a set of Harman Marine long bolt logs for BBF with Gil OT pipes for sale. the logs are about an 8.5 out of ten and have a decent polish on them(not show quality but very nice). The Gils I would rate at an 8 out of 10, they have no cracks or rust/rot the weep holes are nice and not blown out and the chrome on the bells is still  very nice these pipes also come with the factory glasspack style muffler in them. the price for both is $300 but I am willing to separate the two.

The No Wake Zone / Take Care of Yourselvs Guys
« on: May 22, 2011, 12:26:25 AM »
I almost lost my Dad today. At 5:30 pm my Dad suffered a massive heart attack. According to the heart surgeon he had an artery that was 100% blocked to his heart and another that was/still is about 50/60% blocked by a lesion and durring the angioplastis his heart actually slowed down and almost stopped a number of times, they had to hook him up to a pacemaker temporarily to keep him alive. The doctor told us that this was the big one in terms of sevarity, he suffered the most massive heart attack that a person can have without killing them instantly. My Dad is only 50 years old and in pretty good health,... or so we thought. Take care of yourselvs everyone, there are people in your lives that aren't ready to get rid of you  just yet.

Jet Pumps / Berk Intake.
« on: January 16, 2011, 09:01:30 PM »
As most of you know I am currently in the process of restoring my old Sanger. While getting ready for the new gel coating I have completely de-rigged my boat, and while I was scraping the petrified intkae gasket off I noticed how rough the inlet casting was.My question is, is there any benefit to cleaning up and smoothing out the casting, or would I be wasting my time?

OK guys it seems I need some schooling on how to remove the pump from my Sanger. How do I go about doing this? It looks to me like I am going to have to pull the motor to do this.
