The No Wake Zone / Where you at on the 4th?

Staying in Needles for the 4th weekend and will be on the water from Needles to Laughlin. Will either be floating or trying to find an empty piece of beach somewhere on that stretch. I think the Avi is putting on a show most likely be there for fireworks. Anybody floating in that area friday or saturday?

Where would be the best place to set a mechanical gauge directly on the motor of a mid 70's stock 460 with a performer rpm intake? Id like to see if my dash gauge is correct. It dosent move much when i throttle on and off.

By chance does anybody know the thread size of the oil plug for 10qt Milodon oil pan?
Ive been changing the oil through the dip stick tube but now the pump dosent want to suck it out now. So I would like to change to something like the fram plug or something else. Thanks in advance.

So I have a good mid 70's 460 bored 30 over. Im looking to get 500+hp out of it. Whats it gonna take?
I have stock heads and crank but dont think, from what I've read, that these will help much.
I've seen aluminum heads on the web for $900 and up. Do I need aluminum? What make/model should I be looking for? Same goes for the rest of the build.
Should be easy enough without a blower right?
Theres plenty of questions I dont know to ask so just start punchin away.

Would you, could you mix 2 different brands of additive? I've heard that mixing different brands/weights of oil is a no-no.

Jet Pumps / Place diverter double seal install?

So I noticed a piece of plastic sticking out of my diverter knuckle. Thinking it was just a piece of trash I started yanking on it. Damn thing would not come out. Then I take the diverter apart to find where an o-ring should be, but instead I have a torn up straw. Come to find out there is an o-ring for that and promptly called JBP. It was here the next fricking day!

After doing a little searching and failing, I've got a question.

Currently I'm running a fresh 460 with a slightly more than mild cam, roller rockers, Edelbrock RPM intake, 800 Demon carb, MSD distributor w/6m-2 and rev limiter set at 5K and pretty much stock everything else.
My pump is a 12JC-A stock w/manual place diverter and about 20 hrs on it. Seems to be good with no vibrations at any rpm.

My question is what is my next step for top end speed? Right now I'm running about 1mph for every 100 rpm. So 3400 rpm = 34 mph.

Well, here she is. Broke the cam in yesterday, gonna take her up to Pyramid and finish breaking in the 460. I have an engine cover for it but the new intake sits about an inch taller so I need to modify it to fit.
If it stays together today Ill be headin to Parker or Laughlin in a week or 2.

noob here. Just bought my second squitter and started looking for info. Found what I've needed so far for my '75 Hawaiian. Just thanks to all the folks that know what there doing and sharing. Throwing a fresh 460 in her as I type. I'll post pics when she's done.
