Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: water pressure valve
« on: May 22, 2012, 02:12:38 PM »
I built my own relief valve for that very reason of water psi. I couldn't find any other solution beside a garden hose gate valve which I thought was crazy. My inlet and outlets are 1/2" NTP and just after the reduced pressure side, I installed a "T" fitting where I ran a gauge 0-30 psi. and even with a 1/2" pipe I still coudln't dump enough water at WOT. It gets as high as 25 +/-psi. What side are the inlets/outlets on your valve? I don't have headers so I have no idea about enough pressure to open your header feed valve, but I think they are around 10psi when they open. I would recommend installing a sea strainer before the valve cause I sucked up some debris a few times and it was a bitch trying to fix it out on the lake.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: MOTOR SHATTTTT

zinc  thats why I was asking, I think this would be much better on an old school motor.

I did some research a while ago, as well as some training at work on oils. Rotella and Delo Diesel engine oils are great for roller engines (usually mid 1990's and newer), but they can be harmful (zinc) to older flat tappet cam engines. I know it's always been believed that "C" rated diesel oil is better than "S" rated gasoilne oil, but you should be able to find more accurate literature on Shell's and Chevron's websites. It's best to run what the mfg. recommends, unless you've built it up, then run what your engine builder or engine parts mfg. recommend. Just my 2 cents

The No Wake Zone / Re: Boating Safety
« on: May 21, 2012, 12:21:59 PM »
On my boat I say no. I want people paying attention and hanging on. You never know when you have to make a quick turn to squirt some river ants.  >:D Your all ready driving a hotrod boat full of near naked women "hopefully " you dont need unwanted attention from the popo.
Good point. I guess if I can't drink, they can't.... well, unless we're stopped checkin out the view

Whats the law for passengers drinking? I've heard contradicting answers. Can they have a open container while the boat is in operation?

The No Wake Zone / CF of HIN history/ownership?
« on: May 17, 2012, 08:32:00 AM »
Anyone know of any way to I.D. a boat for sale by using the CF or HIN? Example; CF numbers not matching the Hull/ registration. I looked a boat and the reg. papers show a different CF # but the HIN is correct. Anyone ever heard of that? Kinda fishy....

Lake Havasu / Havasu GPS coordinates?
« on: May 11, 2012, 12:51:17 PM »
Hey guys, I'm headed up to Havasu this weekend with some buddies. Ive been up there a few times, but never with my own boat so I'm not certain where all the hot spots are at (sand bar, pirates cove, steamboat, copper canyon....). I'd rather stay in the lake and play around but the guys have never been to Havasu so they wanna see "Havasu". I have a GPS in my boat, if anyone can post some numbers to help me find my way, or perhaps good landmarks? Thanks
