I'd check out the regulator bypass pressure and make sure it's 12 psi. It doesn't take much to foul a regulator with sand, etc.
Why 180?
Mercruiser used to have a 140 thermostat,  but later ones used a 160 stat. I'd make sure you have a 160 stat, and even drill a relief hole in it.
I'm not sure that too much water out the center risers is a bad thing, but all I know is logs and snails, and open cooling systems.

Before ls exhaust was more common,  the 351 ferd load and snails were used by redrilling the pattern.
For open headers,  the sbf build it your self headers,  with ls header flanges.
I'm pretty sure schoenfeld headers makes a set of dry open headers.
Tom @JBP has some headers,  just don't know if he has the ls  variety.

Great find

Go with the biggest impeller you can, big girl needs a big wheel.

Make sure there's a gate valve on the incoming water line. Adjust as necessary, 140 while cruising is plenty. (helps keep pressure/ volume in check)

The Jet-O-Vator steers wonky, and virtually impossible to get parts for. Upgrade to a Place Diverter. Standard equipment on Berks from the mid 80's on. Go hydraulic if you can $wing it.
Tom or Josh at JBP would be my first phone call.

To the guy and team that had the ONLY Jet Boat in the Parker Enduro yesterday. CONGRATULATIONS on finishing, a monumental accomplishment.
Great job.

The No Wake Zone / Re: What happened
« on: October 11, 2024, 09:10:28 AM »
What it sounds like happened, he made a pass, then went over a wakeboard boat wake, made a U-turn, and went over the wake again, and when he lifted, the blower motor stalled while at a pretty good speed, and hooked a bit to the right, and that's the aftermath. There's a video around that shows hitting the dock and the brick wall. Apparently, both occupants had some bumps and bruises, but walked away.

What's it take?  How much HP,?  What kind of pump work?  I assume pump has to be set back further as well.

There's a few here.
Brads comes to mind. CJ888.
Liberty hull? I don't remember. (Probably more efficient than a Hallett?)
750+ HP. BBF tunnel ram.
Blueprinted bottom.
Blueprinted pump.
Single seat. No extras.
Runs mid 90s. In racing conditions.
So the answer is cubic dollars.
Pallets of cash.
I've been 86 mph for a short sprint. Plenty fast for this old man.
Best mine has seen was 71.8.
A little over 500 HP.

I had a pair like that for the jet skis, on an open trailer. Never had a problem.
I'd even use them for the boat, when gas was too far away, like camping on Lake Mohave.
I didn't think they were tough enough for the Jeep, hanging off the back. I had steel cans for that

Seen a T-shirt below a blower on a boat before. Couldn't get it to run right after the new motor.

Any chance you're missing a T-shirt?

I've got nuthin on a tunnel ram.
Leaking intake gasket on the lean side?
Which way are they mounted?
Freight trained or sideways?

After 3500 rpm, I'd imagine something blocking the metering plate (4160) or one of the secondary jets clogged (4150)
I suppose primaries could have the same result.

Quadrajet, metering rods and jets, for the secondaries?

Edelbrock there's some filters that look like socks, one of them plugged up?

Projects / Re: Ford 302 Cam Selection HELP
« on: June 04, 2024, 09:43:06 AM »
Being a ski centurion, it likely has center riser manifolds. I doubt logs and snails. And not water injected headers,  which would be cool, like a cracker box, but not very practical. Some ski inboards even had single exhaust on a V8.

OPs cam choice is conservative.
Run it.

I keep it under 235 degrees at .050" on a small block Chevy with logs and snails, with no issues.
Sbf and center riser exhaust I'd imagine? Your numbers look good for that. I'd run it.

Jet Pumps / Re: Wj pump rebuild in inland empire
« on: January 18, 2024, 08:28:04 PM »
GS Marine in Corona does pumps.
Jacuzzi? I don't know.

MPD in Costa Mesa would be my choice.

Or get a kit from Tom at Jet Boat Performance, and do it yourself.
