Nah,  I’ll pass

That’s fine.   I hope you disclose to potential buyers that the stringers and transom are rotted, which is why I sold it to you for $250

I can't believe I still have this thing...anybody?

Does anyone have a worn out pump for sale with an intake?...the kid wants a "fast boat with chrome mufflers"...so I might build it, even though the wacker will be way better.

Bought a new boat.  It runs fine, but this motor is going on the new boat.

I have a real nice 1988 XR-4 150hp merc...unmolested with a brand new lower unit that could go with the boat...but I need to get $2K for that motor...so, $3K running and ready to go...you'll just have to deal with shitty interior and shitty gel, but otherwise it would be ready to run.

Give me a call if you want to chat about it.

Currently rigged for an outboard, but being sold without power.

Hull is solid.   Gel is shot and needs interior.   $1000

You have a chrome bore 2.4L, so there's not a whole hell of a lot you can do to it to make more power before things start getting stupid expensive.

If it's running well and your compression is decent (120ish psi) it's healthy and if it's on the boat in your avitar, I'd leave it alone.  The best upgrade you can do is a set of fiberglass reeds from Chris Carson Marine Service, and if you're in the mood for premium fuel or even mixing AV gas, mill the heads to get the compression up a bit.  Chris Carson also sells reed spacers to stuff the crankcase a bit more now too.

What are your current speeds?   How is the boat mainly used?   What are your goals for the boat?

You have the bowl off, throw new bushings in it and a new seal.   How's the tail end of the shaft look?

There should be a wave washer on the shifter axle that provides friction to keep it in place...might be missing?

New powerhead is on and running....never had a motor with over 90psi compression before, let alone 115-120psi.   It should run good

Hmmm.   Something is strange about that craigslist engine.   The cowl logo looks like it's from a '90 and later, but it has the early 2 piece heads.   I take silencer looks more like a 135 piece.   Check the serial number on the freeze plug behind the flywheel to see what it really is before buying it.

Too much weight.  Look for a Merc 2.5L

Drill your pilot hole, then start the whole saw backwards to get a score in the gel so it doesn't chip
