Boat Showcase / Inherited a circle boat?advice welcomed
« on: May 08, 2023, 11:35:39 AM »
Well, the wife just had to have a second vessel in the stable. She grew up in it, so I guess I might as well bring back some of that glory, right?

85 Bahner 19?, full stringer, feels like an insanely light layup
Pedantic 350 sbc, 12jg
Hits about 60 with 2 adults in it. Enjoyable but?.just not enough..

I don?t have much of a back story on this boat. If anyone has anything, I?d love to learn more about it. Definitely need someone to look at the hull and let me know if I should even put the money and time into at least making it a fun little sandbar ripper to play in. Ain?t made of money, so it?ll be a long slow project while we use our 21 Caribbean.

Plans for winter:
-clean
-pull bench seat, research buckets
-clean more
-check/fix/replace any bad or ugly wiring
-pull the jet apart, replace bearing and reseal (minimum)
-reseal the transom plate
-get cav plates functional again
-and learn how to use them
-engine maintenance, minimal beautification
-find a guy to paint the new AZ numbers on and maybe redo all the logos around the hull
-research safety equipment

Plans for future:
- home refurb?d junkyard LS
- replace all gauges
- replace steering wheel
- learn to REALLY drive it.

We heard the same thing. People coming down to water wheel for gas and the store now I guess. Major bummer for everyone at Lost Lake.

Gotta be well over 100. Their version of motorcycle drag racing is pretty insane too. They look like bicycles and dudes are racing in flip flops.

Jet Pumps / Re: Is day of vacation and boat broke

Was it just a u-joint? One of mine went out 2 years ago and sheered the splined end of my pump shaft clean off.

Got one on my 21’ day. No way it will affect anything for better or worse if I remove it, so I haven’t touched it except to make sure it’s tight.

Anyone doesn’t like it, they’re more than welcome to try to take my man card lol

Definitely check the condition of the u-joints between the pump and motor. Found that one out the hard way when they gave out and sheered the splined end of my pump shaft off.

I’ll be out on Saturday but we stay up at Water Wheel. Might cruise to the sandbar if there’s a decent amount of people to drink with lol

I follow them almost religiously haha, Matt Happel is worth a follow on IG in my opinion. (thedenmah)

I've seen a few videos of LS/LQ powered boats on youtube ( and one ski boat) but not as many as I would have expected.

This has been a reoccurring conversation around our dinner table. I have an extra junkyard 5.3 in the garage...I've never paid more than $120 for a 4.8/5.3 long block.
Steves86ta is along the lines of what I want to do to mine eventually. Swap stuff is still sort of expensive comparatively though. You’d have to spend some $$$ on the pump but power vs cash you could have a pretty bitchin junkyard turbo boat for maybe half the cost of a high end big block build. Just wouldn’t look pretty lol

17
Haven’t seen many LS boats here, not commonly at least. Would be kind of cool to see a similar style build go into a jet boat. 200k mile work truck block with a cam and big turbo making 1000+.

Edit: okay he did make this on spray, but the price point is good.

I have no idea and I have zero control over what those ads display. Welcome back!

Haha no harm done man. I wasn’t complaining, just figured I’d share some laughter.

So what have you been searching for?

I figured they were ‘smart’ ads as most sites use now. Although I’ve got my own wifey to play “hot local mom” for me, so I’m curious what was pulled to bring up an ad like that. Unless visiting theChive causes it. That would make sense.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm hard headed and if nobody offers to help clean up or put away the boat, I'll do it myself. (Not in a passive aggressive manner, I just do)
Offer to help should also be on the list. Those who offer help are often invited back.

Agree with all of this. I don't follow football even a tiny bit. I go to the super bowl parties for food. And whenever someone in the group starts talking about player stats, I start talking to myself about engines lol

As stated Parker works all year round, winter is also just about the only time I'll do Havasu now as well. Not sure about water levels anywhere below Parker in winter time

Interesting! How's the water temperature in havasu in winter?
