In case you haven’t seen my previous tech post… I bought a pump assembly off of CL needless to say I got burned. Bad pump/shaft/impeller.
The bowl looks to be in good shape but has some evidence of metal on metal action.
(sold)

The register has a chip that does not go down to the bowl mating surface. So should locate (register)and seal. I was debating on welding it but if it’s not necessary I won’t.

PO tried pulling the bearing without pulling the shaft!! (Maybe he just didn’t know how or so the bearing would be trash for when I spun it I couldn’t tell that there was a problem with the impeller.)

Bowl has one small ding, by the looks of the impeller it makes me believe he threw a different bowl on it.

Does the bowl still fit tight to the register?
Hey there!
Yes it does.

Jet Pumps / Pump useable or paperweight?
« on: August 16, 2021, 02:11:29 pm »
I bought a pump that the seller said the impeller was in “good shape”.
From the suction side it looked good so I left with it. When I removed the bowl at home needless to say the impeller was trash. When the impeller blew up it tore up this surface. See pic. Basically machining the chamfer away. I understand it channels the water out of the pump for cooling.
My question is…. Is the pump trash or can I run it if i smooth out best as I can? Wear ring still intact.
Thanks

That was funny!
I figured it was for speedy pump removal/reassembly. The previous owner of my pump use some type of super sealant, crazy hard to separate. So yeah I hate sealants!
Definitely cool factor.

Ok more questions…..
Are these never been seen before pictures?! In all my searches never came across these.
I’m not new to jet boats but am new to building/blueprinting jet pumps….. is that an o-ring groove on the top of the suction housing?!

Sorry I'm slow responding, I don't have the millenial texting skills.

By the way you de-constructed my post by each question, I would’nt say that!!

Yes helpful! I’ve been reading other threads here and on PB site that had some info but may have not completely answered the questions. I know one size does not fit all but I needed a little more clarification on these 3 before jumping in!
I’ll take pics as I go.

All, again thanks for the help.

Thanks for the info Joe. You were probably typing when I replied on boat. New to me Cole firestar with delta pad. I know not the best bottom which is why I want the option of the shoe if needed. Have a bbc but not built yet.

That is the diagram I had. Looks like it's leaving .562 from the flange. How much you're removing could vary by intake.

You’re right about the call out (.562 dim.) I read it wrong. Thanks

I know we’re just scratching the surface here so….

Can’t see who drew the diagram but I think question 1 is answered relative to their shoe installation.

I feel question #3 is answered.

In regards to question #2, in the diagram is specifies .562”. Is their shoe .562 thick? Which will put the shoe on plane with the front of the intake.
