Interior / plexiglass splash panel?
« on: October 05, 2007, 01:06:17 PM »
So i have seen some jet boats out there that utilize some sort of splash panel behind the motor. I dont want to sound dumb, but is there a particular name for that? Is it just something that you would have to make? Can you buy it? I have an 87 Rogers and am considering adding that piece. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

The No Wake Zone / Re: Lake Hodges?

There is one place. you can beach about three boats. Its a little rocky there sometimes, but nonetheless, you can beach and hang out on the beach, without touching the water. After you launch, you would go east. Then through a no wake zone, then continue heading east towards the 15 freeway. Then on the right hand side when you see the freeway, there is about 30-40 ft of sandy beach area. But only about 20ft of non rock, non tuli's (sp?). I can send a pic tomorrow from my office computer. Other than that place, we normally go out to the dam on the west side and tie up a few boats and just float and have some boat sodas.

They haven't said one thing to me about launching, speeding , boat beverages, etc. And no, I launch at the main ramp where all the boats go.  The ramp where the main dock is, is out of service. But you stop there to get your launch permit, then you just go past it through the trees and around the bend. It is open from sunup to sundown. The best time to go is the afternoon, after all the fishing boats have left. around 1230-1. Then you have the lake to yourself and only about 10 other boats. just DONT make body contact with the water. its not very clean. haha

Jet Pumps / 12JG-A Berkeley Pump ?
« on: July 10, 2007, 09:28:43 AM »
SO I have a 12JG-A Berk Pump on my 87 Rogers....so this past weekend at Parker a piece of my grate broke off and went straight through the impeller! Not good. So the impeller is obviously damaged, but looks like the housing is ok. A new impeller is about 250, is this a DIY project, or should I leave this one to a professional? I watched the video on the Berk website which shows removal of the different pumps. It doesn't look too difficult, but thats only the removal. Any suggestions and comments would be appreciated.

The Parker Strip / Re: Parker, June 30th-July 4th

I'm leaving tonight for Parker as well. If you see a red/white rogers with the tunnel ram speeding up past you at about 630am. That would be me! Im staying down at River Reflections and planning on doing some runs in the AM, and also see the conditions for the afternoon. If its not looking good im just going to park it down at the bluewater sandbar and hang all day.

Ok. I have a Hardin Marine 454. but the block and lower end have been replaced. The motor is stock.  The weiand tunnel ram intake and a Holley Carb. MSD Ignition/Wires. log style exhaust manifold. Is that sufficient info?

I have been taking my Rogers out there for 3 weeks straight. There are starting to be more and more people using hodges for recreational boating. (On Saturday the 30th, there were about 7 jet boats out there) You cannot make water contact, but nor would you want to. Its only $5 to launch and no per person day use fees. I had my Rogers opened up and no one says anything. There is only one patrol boat that goes around every once in a while. Great place to just put around and hang out with your friends ON the boat.

Hello everyone,
I just picked up an 87 Rogers a few weeks back, and have taken it out for a few hours over the past 3 weeks. The oil is getting a little beat, so I'm going to change it before I hit the river for the first time with it. Everyone tells me something different. The only mod is a weiand hi - ram tunnel intake.

And, what grade of fuel should I run?

Any suggestions would be great.

I thought the same way. If godforbid I hit some larger boat, most of them new are well over 100K. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Coors - What kind of boat do you have? State Farm just quoted me 398.00.

Stats 18' Rogers Stock 454 325hp with Berkley Jet.

Total Value 8k with trailer

Quoted for 300K in Liability with 500 deduc.

Am I over insuring this thing?

The No Wake Zone / Insurance for 87 Rogers

Hello Everyone,
New to the forum, have a question. So far Allstate and Geico have said that they cannot provide insurance for my 87 Rogers. Anyone out there know of some good coverage for a decent price? Progressive quoted me $412 for the year. I feel thats a little high.

Thanks!
David
