I have never used them but I know several guys that have. They do good work. I had mine coated at Embree and they came out great. They give you a discount if you say you are a performance.com member. Well at least the gave me one. Check them out.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Running headers dry
« on: October 07, 2014, 05:58:40 AM »

You need 1/8" pipe plugs, but you should also braze the weeper holes closed... No one ever does, but that cold air can be a killer...

GT

Thanks GT

So I'm not running water lines on my Bassett's and think I need to plug the water intake holes on each of the tubes. Does anyone know off the top of their head what size bolts I would need to buy to do this?

Thanks.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: 660 Center Squirters Help!
« on: September 10, 2014, 07:18:19 PM »

I had issues  with the feed tubes leaking   holley sells different tubes that use grommets  instead of O rings. The O rings like to pinch  you can try using a little bit of grease

Sent from my SCH-I545 using SoCal Jet Boats mobile app

I wasn't aware that Holley had tubes with grommets. That seems like it would be a lot better than the I rings. I know they can get punched because I pinched one when I first rebuilt them. I will look into the upgrade.

Thanks guys.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / 660 Center Squirters Help!
« on: September 10, 2014, 05:03:10 PM »
Looking for some help, I have a pair of 660's on my Hondo that I can't seem to get to stop leaking fuel. When I first got the carbs the needed a rebuild and I did that, ran them a couple trips and ran fine with no leaks. The boat say for 2 weeks and after that now all they do is leak. There is fuel leaking from the bottom of both secondary bowls and the feed tubes going to the secondary bowls.

Has anyone experienced this or know where I went wrong with the rebuild? I have rebuilt carbs before and never had any issues like this.

You need to make sure the eccentric is on the cam gear or it won't pump... go with a clay Smith pump for around a 100 bucks. It will be the last pump you buy

Where can you get a clay smith pump for around $100?

I need a new pump for my boat.

Yeah sure...just started working on her this past weekend. Hopefully river worthy in the next 30 days. She's filthy, haven't taken a hose to her yet hehe.

Looks solid what a great find. I like the T-Decks my Hondo was purchased from a fellow member (Dave). I have been looking for another one and can't seem to find any out there that are reasonably priced.

Looks good Nate.  Just a little constructive criticism, can your upper plenum be turned around so that the carbs sit more level while on plane?  Just thinking that that might cause some float level issues with the angularity of the engine combined with the angularity of the carb mounting surfaces.

Cheers,

Joe

Ok so I was kind of thinking this but was unsure. I bought this setup like this and it was on a jet boat so thought it was ok as is. I will have to look into it.
