Got the heads pulled off tonight and found the bastards. A little bit of careful scrubbing in 7 and 8 with the side of a wood chizzle and a quick scrub with some 400 grit and the rust was gone. Was able to spin the motor over, and didnt see any scoring or pitting. So I wiped down the cylinders with some atf and poured a little extra in each hole and let it soak while me and my daughter went to get dinner. When we got back I was able to spin the motor over by hand and used my drill to prime it stopping every few rotations to wipe the cylinders clean and coat again with atf. Got it to the point where there was no crap left on the cylinders after spinning it over then spun it over with the starter. Thinking about just slapping it back together and skipping pulling it, honing it and putting in a fresh st of rings. But I may change my mind tomorrow.

Projects / Southwind cruiser project
« on: August 27, 2018, 06:28:28 AM »
Well I guess you could say I'm back, that is if anyone still uses the forum. I know there's a Facebook group now but it just don't feel right to me so I'm just gonna post here. Been out of the boat thing for a while now and the kids are getting old enough that I feel comfortable getting back into it. And it didnt help that I've been taunted by my bud Jordan for the last few years so I decided to get another one a few months ago and have been on the look out. Wasn't really looking for anything too particular other than something around 20 foot and a cruiser and I've been driving by this particular boat for probably the better part of 3 years now and on my way home from a side job on Saturday morning there was someone out cleaning the yard where this boat was so I started talking to him and he put me in contact with the owner and a few hours later i dragged it home. Didn't get the title for the boat or the trailer but after talking to a friend of mine who works for the sheriff's department he checked the numbers for me and everything came back clean so I wasn't too worried about it especially for what I paid for it.

So as of right now I can only tell you that it's a Southwind Cruiser, about 20.5 foot by the tape measure and the hull is in really good shape for what it is. It's a quarter Stringer, the floors soid, the 460 is locked up, all the cylinders look good except for number 4. That's a bastard that's got all the crap in it so I tried letting it soak for 2 days with diesel in the cylinders but it didn't free up so I decided to actually pull the motor and go through and clean it up the right way. Start breaking it down last night and I was amazed at how clean the heads were and the intake galley so I'm hoping to get away with just a decent little hone and fresh set of rings. It's got a Berkeley Jet and it's been worked on. Didn't climb underneath to look up the intake grate because all the damn spiders, but looking through the diverter the veins on the bowl have been sharpened and the diverter has a insert so someone spent some money on this thing at one time.  So hopefully I can get this thing on the water in the next few months, I'm in no big hurry and not trying to blow a bunch of money, wife was a little mad when she came home and saw a boat in front of the house. It's not the first time I've done it to her and it's not like she's going to kick me out a few days before I get my paycheck anyways so I know I'm safe until Thursday. But it cleaned up pretty nice with just a water and rag rub down, interior is just about shot but a couple of towels will get it done for a while. Just needs some tlc.

The No Wake Zone / Re: SCJB on two wheels...
« on: May 05, 2017, 09:37:59 AM »
So I got rid of my DRZ400 for this KTM 525 and it's been a blast I usually go ride with my brother on his KX450 on fire roads and trails in Big Bear, Arrowhead and Idlewild. Diring season its glamis and ocotillo.  And then there's my little girl on her 50 which she loves and my newest addition which is actually my very first dirt bike I ever had. Did a job for my Dad's friend who bought it 15 years ago and he still had it laid over in the back corner so I bought it and took it home. Makes it nice to chase around my little one on that instead of the big bike. She's about ready to have the training wheels taken off so it's nice to be on her level and not have to worry about dropping my big bike or leaning over on her

Selling my 2001 GMC Yukon and K 1500 4x4 diesel. Im firm at 3800 on the Yukon and 3500 on the truck but money talks. The description is in the pictures below each vehicle, for some reason on my phone it's not allowing me to copy and paste the written sections so that was the easiest way for me to post. I will have more pictures of the Yukon and truck posted tomorrow afternoon, this last week and a half I haven't been getting home until after dark. I bought the Yukon as my family wagon and then ended up buying the truck a few months later to haul the motorcycles around and potentially tow a trailer but I ended up buying a 2008 Dodge 4 door long bed diesel this week and now I really have no use for either one of them.  The new truck will fit me my wife and the three kids comfortably and it's a truck so time to get rid of the two vehicles that have been replaced with one.

Located in moreno valley ca. I have the titles to both vehicles, both are clean and both are registered in my name and current.

Interior / Re: To carpet or not to carpet
« on: August 26, 2016, 01:35:42 PM »
Man now I'm not sure what I want to do flow coat looks bad ass. I just have a lot of old glue on the floor not sure if I want to scrape it all off.

Sent from somewhere in Cali

Pull all the old carpet out and then pressure wash it. The pressure washer will get pretty much all the glue off then go and sand everything like your suppose to and spray.
