Boats For Sale / Anybody on the hunt for a killer fishing boat?
« on: March 02, 2016, 08:15:37 pm »
So I'm picking up a 20' Sea Ray cuddy with a Mercruiser I/O that is set up for salmon fishing.

I need to turn it around quickly.

I will be swapping out the short block (3.0 four cylinder). And the top end is new.

I need to get as close to $2500 as possible.

Galvanized single able EZ Loader, depth,  remote spotlight.

Let me know even if you are remotely interested. The money is going to a racing fund.

Thanks

Random Boat Parts For Sale / Anybody need a Sea Doo hull?
« on: February 20, 2016, 11:59:25 pm »
I have a pretty much bare 1994 Sea Doo XP hull I bought for a few parts off of it,  I don't need the hull. It's an 8 out of 10.

If someone had a damaged hull, this would be perfect to do a swap.

I don't have any paperwork for it,  but if you want it is yours.

I'll try to take a couple pictures in the daytime.

This story from LOTO reads life a play out of every story of s newbie jet boat enthusiasts trials and tribulations.

Unfortunately, this one ended in a tragic drowning.

Install a valve at your water pipes of the pump people.

Also keep your pressures in check. The block casting/freeze plug popped out, they say likely from frost, but being a jet, thinking the pressure pushed it out.

Those rubber plugs work for the short term,  never intended to be permanent.

Not sure if this cat was on here, but rest in peace fellow jet boater.

Dude hit the water and didn't make it.

Take care of yourselves guys. And don't boat alone.

Boat Racing / Comp Jet Racing 2016.
« on: February 01, 2016, 05:26:49 pm »
Soooo, here's the deal. As many of you know i have been tossing around the idea of getting back into racing and Comp Jet is the logical class.

There have been discussions about rule changes and I know B-Rad is going to try and get the CJ888 rocking once again.

I don't have any delusions about going out and spanking everyone out there. I just want to be involved and do my part in keeping the sport alive.

Any suggestions, recommendations,  insight is much appreciated.

I've had my eye on a couple of different ideas as far as boats,  but was really waiting on things to settle out what with all the K, SS and PS capsule rules coming into play.

Thanks in advance.

WarZone / The joys of home ownership.
« on: December 08, 2015, 10:46:59 pm »
Just thought I would start a post about what I've been up to lately.

So, I need to refinance my home. In order to do that, I needed a new roof.

Get some quotes,  even got one from a close friend who is a roofing contactor. Holy crap.

So, lowest bid, in excess of $9,500, without extras/hidden damage.

Decided to do it myself. Literally myself.  What a moron.

So after replacing about 30% of the sheeting,  ridge beams,  facia boards,  straightening out about 20 rafters, custom gutters, dry rot repairs, flashing bla bla bla.. $6k and about a month. Done deal.

Take a week to heal, sleeping on the couch,  hear water dripping in the kitchen, can't figure it out. Turns out, dishwasher has a leak under the pump, little cracked plastic piece.. Hmmm. Take dishwasher out,  remove floor, still hear water dripping WTF?

Found out the water line was leaking inside the door of the refrigerator. Damn.

Subfloor soaking wet,  enough to rust the nails.

Still hear water leaking.  Find out that the drain lines are all broken to hell. No winning here. Shit.

So the house is 40 years old, galvanized steel pipe. Find nearly thirty pinhole size leaks.

Repipe to copper, everything, repair all the drains,  new subfloor  in the kitchen, after squaring up the floor joists (high in the middle by 3/8"), had to tear out the oven, the cabinets (which were wet) drywall 12" up from the floor. .

Holy crap.

Now I'm installing the tile, have to build new cabinet boxes, can't afford new countertops, so those are blocked up.

I'm tired, out of money and have not had a weekend in three months.

Once I refinance,  my mortgage will literally be cut in half.

So there is light at the end of the tunnel,  I just hope is not a train. Lol

Not trying to be a downer, just needed to vent.

So.... I'm not calling this a guide or anything, just looking to get the discussion started in case it could help someone else.

Before I got married nearly 24 years ago,  I was racing endurance motorcycles, hydroplanes, river jets,  go carts, a short stint playing with midgets and 410 Sprint cars, not to mention the occasional street grudge matches.

Since my daughter was born,  now going on 22 and a college graduate,  I have only been fortunate enough to help in the pits and once in a while, get to test and tune. Needless to say,  my seat time has been limited unless you count pulling the kids on tubes and skis and piloting an occasional houseboat.

Mind you, I'm not really upset about it, just miss the adrenaline terribly.

I have been to dozens of events since then and really appreciate my time at the tracks and talking shop.

My wife and I have been having a difficult time for the last several years, not just the relationship,  but the three ring shit show that we call life.  So we have had numerous discussions on how to reconnect as we have drifted miles apart over the years.

We decided to take a few things we are passionate about and attempt to share them with each other.

You need to keep in mind, my wife had never one time been there when I was in the hot seat, so to speak.

So, to shorten this up a little, she and I went to the Long Beach Sprint Nationals this year.

Now. I normally go to these things by myself,  sometimes I go with my dad,   who is a gear head in his own right.

Anyway,  you could call me a   rookie at trying to entertain a newbie.

Well, Saturday I was asked if I could help the GN3 crew as a holder and wiper downer etc on the Sasquatch Team Boat. My wife insisted I go help out.

Well as it turns out,  it took a ton of time because of some problems that arose on the boat. I left her at the SoCalJetboats viewing area thinking she could chat up some of the cool folks hanging and watching the races.

Huge mistake. She is quieter than I am and ended up sitting by herself and got lonely and bored. Completely my fault.

So we were supposed to go have some dinner with friends after the races Saturday and needles to say, she was pretty pissed at me.  (Very sorry flytime).

We ended up going to dinner very late and talked about it, for quite some time, mostly me apologizing every few minutes. Lol

We decided to go Sunday (mainly because it was a five hour drive home) and stay in the pits with the GN3 crew. I answered as many questions as I could, introduced her to as many people as I could locate and she had a great time. Probably could have done without the sunburn. Lol.

Introduced her to Dave Rankin,  the Doidges, among others.

So long story short (too late), make her feel like she is the most important person there,  because at the end of the day, she is.

I was humbled by sharing my love of a crazy motorsport with someone I have been with for most of my life, honestly I think we both grew a little bit this weekend.  I'm not sure she realized how passionate I still am for this crazy and exciting world of boat racing.

With the passing this weekend of Mike Fry, TAH racer,  I know I am not the only one.

Race in peace Mike, you will be truly missed.

Thank you guys for being here. I'm not sure you really realize how connected you make me feel within the boating community

It was really great to see some of you guys this weekend.

Hope this helps someone else, I felt odd posting it.

Have any pictures?

You already know where I stand. As for top speed, same engine, I would think the Bahner would be a tick faster on GPS, but the Ass-O-Nometer would have a tough go telling the difference.

Just something about a Beezer. Bahners are getting to be like Camaros, whereas the Beezer is more like a 10 second Chevelle.lol

JMHO.

The No Wake Zone / Happy 4th of July
« on: July 04, 2015, 07:55:20 am »
I just want to take a few and say Happy Birthday America!

This great country was founded on the ideals of religious freedom, tyranny and liberty from taxation without representation. We fought the monarch principal to the death of many,  fought wars based on the principals of fairness and freedom of oppression, made it through financial ruin,  among many other horrific obstacles.

Look at us now.

We haven't learned a Damn thing.

Moving forward. Treat this country like you owe it something. Because frankly, the people who made it happen may be gone, but the price they paid to make it happen has not been paid back.

Have a great weekend. Treat thy neighbors with only the respect they earn. Treat hate and greed like they don't belong here. Who knows,  maybe we can get our country back.

The No Wake Zone / Memorial Day thank you.
« on: May 23, 2015, 11:29:22 am »
To all our great nations armed forces service members past, present and future.

Thank you for the sacrifices you have made.  To selflessly put yourself in harms way for a cause you may or may not totally agree with to serve your country is nothing short of heroism.

For those who have given the ultimate price to protect the man beside you who would have done the same for you, your memory will live on for eternity as an angel.

For those who have gone in knowing full well the results could be horrific, you have won the battles that molded this country into what it is.

For the men and women behind the scenes making sure the front lines are informed, have the equipment, have a plan,  thank you for keeping these heroes safe.

May peace find you in times of turmoil,  may love find you in times of hatred. And most of all, may the honor you deserve rest upon you forever.

Without you, we are nothing.

Safety equipment like helmets and fire suits.

Pet food

Automotive performance products.

Electrical components

Plumbing products

Anything structural

The list is endless.

The No Wake Zone / Good thoughts needed for my best bud.
« on: December 23, 2014, 10:58:49 pm »
Guys,

I normally don't do this, but a fellow boat lover and childhood best bud growing up was involved in a pretty bad accident riding his road bicycle on Sunday.

He has some pretty serious head trauma and is on and off a ventilator and has had two surgeries to try to control the swelling of the brain.

I grew up with David and we used to spend summer weekends on his dads boat at the Delta, skiing, swimming, fishing, all around good times.

I am not a religious person, but was hoping that there were some people of faith out there to keep him in your prayers. He and his wife are both ministers and have two of the most amazing boys ever. Both with Autism. These people have been through enough. I want desperately do see him, but cannot seem to reach him because I only have his cell phone number, which apparently was damaged in the accident.

I feel so helpless.

You guys are the best...
