My boat recently started running bad (missing/ running on 7 cylinders) and running hotter. Full disclosure; I have a Hardin bypass thermostat kit that has worked great. I also have a regulator with overboard dump. I know right off the bat some of you would tell me to ditch those items but they have been working flawlessly for a while previous to this problem. So I pulled the plugs and found the right side middle two fouled with fuel - but one slightly rusty and had what looked like water on it. So....head gasket most likely right? Just wanted to ask for any pro tips on doing the head gaskets; or, what brand and type work best for this application. Copper spray? Also, it looks like it has a one piece turkey tray intake gasket in it now. Does anyone reuse the valley pan section (cutting off the gasket part) and install composite gaskets? I've done this with a previous olds powered boat but didn't own it for too long after I did the work to know if there were any issues. Also what about exhaust port block offs?
I found a flat bottom hallet with new bbc and rebuilt berkeley pump and possibly purchased it (gave deposit of 100). Boat was reuphostered and painted as well. Price is 1700. On the sides of the boat the paint fell off in an almost perfect mirror image of the fiberglass tanks on both sides. Is this something i should just walk away from? Im a mechanic and after freshening up a 71 horizon im getting a little more comfortable with the whole boat thing. Can this be fixed...has it ruined the stringers etc...any and all info is greatly appreciated as im supposed to pick the boat up saturday If i just need to cut out old tanks and install aluminum it really doesnt seem like something i couldnt do at the shop i work at on my freetime?
So i turn the key, it barely cranks then makes a kind of grinding noise...turn key back and retry, cranks a littke more and does the same thing. 3 or 4 times of that and the. It turns over fine and starts... i pulled the starter today and looked at the teeth on it and the fly wheel. They looked perfectly fine on both. None were bent or shaved down or anything... tested the started and it seemed to jump out far enough and sounded just fine. Do yall think that maybe it is just getting tired? And where is a good place to get one? Thanks for any advice and help.Well if you think everything's okay, the first thing that comes to my mind is your battery voltage under load.
So I'm just about done with this bad bitch, I finished up the interior got everything working properly, all there is to do is install a few speakers and stick on my CF numbers.Yep,purdy float there.
I'll get some more photo when she's wet and squirting tomorrow out on the water. haha

I will try again with a picBeautiful. Your P/D handle or lever is extra long? Maybe optical illusion?
Well im gonna take him for a ride in the car and drive it like i stole it because im confident in it so i hope he gives the option to take to it the lake for a ride. If not ill probably pass. And yah, it is huge....so big its got a damn refrigerator, bed and 2 couches under the bow. But its what i really wanted after i sold the kona and its what i told my wife id get next. My daughter will be 4 here pretty quick and she loves the water and just finished her second 4 week long swiming class. So im ready for another boat.Good luck with your choice of that executive. I know the wife and the kids going to enjoy it. They do need station wagons LOL.
So ive been out of a boat for a while and really getting that itch to get back on the water. Was bored today and got on craigs and came across this. Went and looked at it today and im almost sold on it. 24 foot sleek, bbf 460, berk and it seems to be in pretty solid shape. Hes asking 5800 obo which i think is a little steep but im going to be trading my chevelle and hes throwing in some cash on top. What you guys think?I'd pass. If you NEED a boat that big, look for an I/O.
I think I need one after installing a place diverder droop with a ride plate. Never happened in till I put this on .....
Welcome to SCJBWell here you go crew chief something I found online. That would be cool.
I always thought it would be cool to have a big station wagon as a tow vehicle for the boat, but I'm thinking the tunnel ram might be a bad idea for a tow vehicle. I'd suggest saving the tunnel ram for the boat and get an Edlebrock Performer for the car.
Came across this company. Does anyone have experience with them? Good price if they last

I miss my engine run is stand. I sold it. Time to build another one where I can disassemble it and put it in the corner. The best thing I ever did when building engines. Yes the neighbors love me.
I don't get to this website much so I was surprised to see another Horizon. What a great looking Horizon, you did a super job with the paint. The reason I'm finally doing a post is because I too have a 71 Horizon which I bought (in 1973) from a guy that worked at Holmes Fiberglass in Costa Mesa Ca. He made the boat for himself but had to sell it because of divorce. So I have had this boat for a long time. Now I’m too old to ski now plus heart disease, etc. I’m currently trying to restore it as I let it sit to long and all the intake valves were stuck. I’m trying to get my son to take if off my hands. I have spent many years at Blue Water Lagoon on down past Big River. I sure miss that life therefore I look at this website to see what people are doing. Hope you get out to that area and use that beautiful boat. Cheers! That's a pretty boat you got there. Looks to be a Mopar or American Motors Company motor. Get a mechanic to fix that motor , and get back out there. You're still a young man. Best of luck!
2007 CARRERA ECLIPSEI've got a 96 Carrera really like it too, it's the open bow.
