Yay my first reply!!! Thanks for the info I appreciate it. Little by little the process is starting to move forward I just wish I would have built the boat myself then I would know what I had but I got the boat  for basically free and is well worth throwing a bit of cash at it to get it going. Thanks again

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Newbie needs some advice on BBF

Hey ford guys I need some help! I ended up with a Tahiti jet boat in a trade and at the time the motor was not running and was told that it needed some lifters and pushrods and some minor tlc. For the record I Know the boat ran for a few years  and from what I was told it ran really well. Well upon going through it I found some damage to a lifter so I pulled the cam and it had 2lobes noticeably worn down so I so I began the process of trying to find a cam kit for it. My problem is I don't know exactly what has been done to motor so I began checking for numbers and I'd. The block is a DIVE-6015-A2. The pistons are SRP 74F which when I looked them up it says they are flat/inverted top pistons with a 4.440  which I found to be .80 over I believe. The rods are C9AE 6210-5 which are boss 427 rods. The heads are C8VE-E and the cam is a comp cam uh 1051 310b-8. The guy I got it from said it is  10.1 compression but a buddy of mine says he thinks it is 11.1. The other components in motor are roller rockers..tunnel ram w/ 2 demon carbs that I'm not sure of size due to I can't find any numbers on carbs. So here's my problem I'm not a avid Motörhead but half way knowledgeable on the workings of a motor so I go to my neighbor who is a lifetime gearhead to ask him for help even know he is a chevy guy . He says that .80 over is to much and 11.1 is not the best with pump gas. Like I said I know the boat ran well for the guy and was told by others it ran very strong. So what is the best path to take on this little freshen up job. I've read a crap load of posts and a lot say .80 over is no good. Others say it is fine as long as it is a early 70s block which I believe it is. I'm not really sure on the head work but I was told that they where machined to match intake and it looks to have heavy springs but not sure of any port work. So any advice to try and help me get this thing in the water this year would really be appreciated. And can somebody give me an idea of what horsepower and torque this thing might put out. Thanks again for your time if you made it through this extremely long post.

Suggestions / Support / Need some input on 460 Ford

Hey Ford guys I need some help! I ended up with a Tahiti jet boat in a trade and at the time the motor was not running and was told that it needed some push rods and a couple of minor adjustments. For the record I know the boat ran for quite a few years and from what I was told ran pretty strong. Well upon going through it I found some damage to a lifter so I pulled the cam and it had two lobes noticeably wore down so I began the process of trying to find a cam kit for it. The problem is I do not know exactly what has been done to motor so I began checking numbers. The block is a DIVE--6015-A2 and was not sure what bore or compression. The I'd on bottom of pistons was SRP 74 F which when I looked up it said that they were flat/inverted top pistons with 4.440 bore . And when checked I found it to say they were .80 over. The rods from what I see are C9AE 6210-5 which they say are 427 boss rods. The heads are C8VE-E. the cam in it was a comp UH1051 310B-8. Now I was told by guy I got it from which did not know much about the motor he had built for him says it was 10.1 comp. but a buddy of mine said it was 11.1. The other components on motor are roller rockers ..tunnel ram .. dual demon carbs which I'm not sure what size due to not being able to find any ID numbers on carbs. So here's my problem I'm not an avid Motörhead but half way knowledgeable so I go to my neighbor who is a lifetime gear head and ask him for help and he says that the .80 over is too much and so is the 11.1. So I know that this thing ran for quite a while and was told by other non biased people that it ran strong. What is my best path to take on this little freshen up job. I've also read a crap load of forums that say "YOU CANT GO .80 OVER ON A 460 " and some say that it is fine as long as it's an early 70s block and I believe it's a 71. So any advice would really be appreciated and with what you see here can anybody estimate what kind of hp this will put out? Thanks for advice it is much appreciated.
