Gt
I secretely cant wait cause Im a Chevy man and when the ole 460 goes well....
I hear you on the delta and honestly without a probe on each I couldnt tell ya and Im not gonna do all that cause Im not that interested in getting that involved.
Im ok with how its setup currently and I had a Tahiti that was always about 100* without an issue lol
Im just happy we got some water up here to play in.
I got a 89 Malibu Skier last month only does 40 but is so much easier to climb back in lol but theres nothing like the Hallett.
I like all boats I like all motorcycles even though I have 2 Harleys and a new Husky but I have as much fun on my kids pw50 lol.
Im happy to have discussions on this board with everyone and hope we all find ways around issues with our boats on here.
Anytime anybody sees my lil Green Hallett on the water and want a ride dont be shy lets go for a ride!!!

160*
I swear by the pressure relief for the block pressure
I just like the T stat to control the temp but I run my boat in lakes I probly wouldnt run the T-Stat in the river or sandy locations.
That was an old topic I was just trying to stor the pot a lil but No Bs it worked great on my boat.  I got 160 temp and the Main Key was stopping the excess pressure to my block that kept blowing oil.
Been a few years now on my set-up instead of the Gate valve off the pump (For me I needed to ditch the gate)

I'd like to point out my 160 temp on my gauge also courtesy of a Tstat set-up working in Tandom with my 12psi Relief off my pump sending the right amount of water pressure into my block while keeping IMO optimal temp.  Lol Gate valve pshhh.
Have the Holley 800 mechanical its dialed the Hallett is fast for a heavy boat rides great and keeps the ladies wet.
Also found wierd to me Ford 2 wire Alt on here drawing too much power so stuck a resistor on there to solve that issue.  Never woulda know except I got curious with the Fluke one day.
Glad theres some water to play in up here in Norcal though

Jet Pumps / Re: Panther Jet Energizer

Question do you have through transom headers?  How are the flappers.  You wanna make sure those are in good shape.  If you lose one water could push backwards and go back into your block give you dead weight feeling and other issues
The pump connections through the transom could be leaking where the sealant is
If you havent caught it theres a video for Panther Jet that shows the quality its pretty awesome.  If fact while driving my old Tahiti I found if I growled like a Panther I could pick up 2 mph.
Roarrr Meoooow

You gotta have a pretty sweet boat to do this IMO cause you could buy a boat with a Berk for the price of the Energizer or Excellerator kit.
That being said the upgrade is a great idea if you love everything else about your boat and dont wanna punt away to start over.  Its a hard lesson learned that I went through myself and Ill never touch another boat with a Panther myself

Nope guy retired.
With the guy there now I imagine he will either use that shop to work on other stuff or go outta business.
Either way another boat shop bit the dust...

My best friends lil bro called asked if I would go look at a boat that a guy that owns a boat shop has to trade for 2 jet skis straight up
I say well I dont care too much for said shop he says oh no its a new owner I said Okay lets roll.
Brappppp (cue Harley sound)
Roll up to a 78 mini day.
I see it has a panther.  I tell Him nope you don't want it.  But lets check it out.
"Homeboy" comes out and hes sellin Wolf Tix hard.  I listen
Hes like yeah its got a stereo blah blah blah.
I asked what kinda Hull is this he says oh ask my wife...
She comes out and says its a Rainbow.
He says I replaced the water pump cover gasket blah blah.
I say oh super tall lid on the doghouse it had a tunnel ram huh he says no.  Just stock.  Original had small block so they got taller lid cause now it has a big block.  Wish I had a pic of how tall and the shape- Red flag
He fires it up and he kept revin it then killed it.  I said let me hear it idle.  He says it wont - Red Flag. Dude you own a boat repair shop
I say the through trans exhaust hoses are new and I see a bolt stuffed in hole and caulked up I say oh it had wet stacks he says no - red flag
I say whens the last time it was out he said we just took it out.  I said oh did you blow out both exhaust flappers at the same time?  He says no they haven't been in there the few times I took it out.  I said do you whats possible if there aren't on there.  He had no clue - Red Flag
I say how do you know about the boat he says Ive know original owner it never had anything your talking about.  Ok.
I say the Panther looks original ticking time bomb.  He tells my buddy don't worry I got like 3 Berks in the shop....  RED FLAG!!!!
So I ask well how much cash are you asking he said 5,000...  His wife laughed at my facial expression.. I said ok for 5000 you can get a pretty great fucking ride this thing is worth like 1500.  What did u get it for he says 1600 and he put work into it and the guy couldnt pay and let it go.
he said I have an Eliminator Day cruiser for 10,000 for sale.  It has a BBC.  I asks what pump he says Berk I say no what model he thinks for about 30 seconds says I don't know then googles a pic of his own add on CL to show me.  I said Ok lets get outta here.
So most likely another jet boat shop around here will close up.  I mean how did you buy a boat shop and you dont even know a 12 Jc to a JG or that u cant just pull Panther off and slap a Berk on not cheaply anyway lol.
It was pretty amazing.

Yeah Im just bored talking smack.

Remember you gotta follow GTs procedure to setup the new Gate if you install one.

Id try the packing first like mentioned hold the body with a backup wrench tighten packing nut 1/4turn

Exactly.  It only gets to 120 cause it rushes through so fast. Which is fine if you don't mind the cool temp

The pressure is the enemy (well excess is)

The Temp is a another item to address (which was why I got a Tstat because my personal choice was Id rather have 160 temp) but I run in lakes not shallow sandy waters
