I see it has a panther.  I tell Him nope you don't want it.  But lets check it out.

I say oh super tall lid on the doghouse it had a tunnel ram huh he says no.  Just stock.  Original had small block so they got taller lid cause now it has a big block.  Wish I had a pic of how tall and the shape- Red flag
He fires it up and he kept revin it then killed it.  I said let me hear it idle.  He says it wont - Red Flag. Dude you own a boat repair shop
I say the through trans exhaust hoses are new and I see a bolt stuffed in hole and caulked up I say oh it had wet stacks he says no - red flag
I say whens the last time it was out he said we just took it out.  I said oh did you blow out both exhaust flappers at the same time?  He says no they haven't been in there the few times I took it out.  I said do you whats possible if there aren't on there.  He had no clue - Red Flag
I say how do you know about the boat he says Ive know original owner it never had anything your talking about.  Ok.
I say the Panther looks original ticking time bomb.  He tells my buddy don't worry I got like 3 Berks in the shop....  RED FLAG!!!!
So I ask well how much cash are you asking he said 5,000...  His wife laughed at my facial expression.. I said ok for 5000 you can get a pretty great fucking ride this thing is worth like 1500.  What did u get it for he says 1600 and he put work into it and the guy couldnt pay and let it go.
he said I have an Eliminator Day cruiser for 10,000 for sale.  It has a BBC.  I asks what pump he says Berk I say no what model he thinks for about 30 seconds says I don't know then googles a pic of his own add on CL to show me.  I said Ok lets get outta here.
So most likely another jet boat shop around here will close up.  I mean how did you buy a boat shop and you dont even know a 12 Jc to a JG or that u cant just pull Panther off and slap a Berk on not cheaply anyway lol.

I just want to put this out there indirectly to anyone and just as general knowledge

Gate valves DO NOT and were NOT intended to control pressure.  As in the pressure coming from your pump to you engine cooling system.  That is for water volume not pressure.

  Yes large exits with gate valve at the inlet lets water pass through your block and have no pressure issues.  For some set ups this is not the case. 

Forget temp just talking PRESSURE. To help regulate pressure to the block people use relief valve on the coolant inlet to the block which is a suggestion as a tool to help fix a pressure issue.

you have an inlet and outlet of an engine block.  If you have too much coming in the front end and not enough out the back end pressure will build in the middle (which is inside your engine)

some people have pressure issues some don't. 

some let high pressure run fast through a gate inlet and out the back end quickly enough the pressure does not build inside the block and they have no issue.  In no way does that control pressure it just does not allow it to build.

Anyway I know were all tired of this just trying to get people to think of the pressure subject

So I found out the hard way about Chevy HD issues.  They break or bend stock tie rods for one.  Second issue is the Center link can rotate or twist which can affect tires, alignment, tie rods.

Guess I gotta stop the 4wheel drifts through corners in my 4wheel drive.

I have a 6inch lift with 35inch Nittos.  Had HD Tie Rods but the center link twisted and broke the tie rod loose where it is machined and threaded where the factory installs the seal at the upper joint where u install grease.  So my lady pulled out from a paking lot and the drivers side wheel wouldnt turn.  When I got there the upper tie rod was laying there.  I used a pipe wrench and threaded it back onto itself.   

So I now have new Idler arm, Pitman arm, Cognito Idler & Pitman arm braces which help stop the damage of the center link twist and helps the Idler arm and Pitman arm last longer and I installed Fabtech HD Tie rods.

Opinions on 496 Chevy build.  Mark IV 2 bolt converted into 4 bolt, 10;1 bottom end complete forged crank and pistons. 

Question is opinion on head selection and cam selection.  Thinking AFR Heads around 305cc Roller cam off shelf non custom grind but dont want wrong power curve dont want too big and have no bottom end power.  So question is cam selection choice hopefully from experience. 

Berk 12jg will be rebuilt and matched.

I know alot of veriables but wheres a good place to start. Mid 80's Bahner open bow full stringer
