Thats why I said "So the story goes."   Believe me, I am not standing up for the guy but just trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Gentlemen, I am the luckiest guy in the world.  When I get home my wife tells me "you got two hours to work on the boat before dinner is done, now get out there...oh and here's a beer"...seriously she really does.  She always has.  She is more of a gearhead than me.

I could only wish for something like that!

Have to be on 2sav's side on this one (rare thing).  If you like the man or not, anyone's boat on the bottom is not something to have a good time with.   Especially when it got there trying to help a fellow boater.   :(

Dont forgot the part where he was doing it for free on top of all that!

Check the part number on the dizzy and look it up in msd's site.  They make one that needs a box to run and one that doesnt need a box.

I started thinking about it and it sounds like yours doesnt need a box if its sparking right now without one.  Not really sure though.  Mabye not a hot enough spark?

I had a problem with the box working intermitantly and it turned out to be a bad ground.

I was always told that if you do your own prepping then it turns out good but if you have them do it, it doesnt turn out so good.  I guess they dont prep to swell.  Thats what I have been told anyway.

Dont take my advice on this as a sure way to do things but maybe you could find a sheet of rubber that is about the same thickness and cut out some new seals.  Just a thought anyways.

Are the rubber inserts sealing correctly?  I think you can adjust them with the screw in the center.

I looked at my caps and they have a spring loaded center piece.  Maybe you could find some new ones for cheap that are like that.

Engines / Engine Parts For Sale / Re: BBC top mount starter
« on: April 15, 2009, 02:14:12 PM »
I went through the same thing a couple years ago.  After 2 flexplates, 2 starters and 3 bendix(sp?) for the starters I called it quits!  I wouldnt worry about getting a bottom mount starter wet.  I have had mine totally immersed in water and it fired up my engine no problems!

I have a diverter on my boat and reverse is excellent.  I think you might just have something out of adjustment.  Try to put it in the water strapped to the trailer and have someone watch the nozzle to see if it is doing what it is supposed to do.

This Kinsvater cruiser is still floating around out there.  Surprised cuz it seems like a very very cool boat.  Maybe he's just asking too much, I dunno.

Yeah seven grand for a boat that doesnt run would seem a little high to me!
