not sure if you have ever boated near the casinos....but its 100 times worse than a holiday weekend in front of the Avi. I'd rather go down to big bend. its closer to the spots we boat.

I was just thinking of location for the end of the day drive, I don't care where we launch

Just realized there's a FREE public ramp in Laughlin. It's at the opposite end of Casino Drive from the River Palms, but that's still a hell of a lot closer than Big Bend...

heres the basic rule here....if youre too drunk to drive your car on the road, you shouldnt be driving your boat in the first place.

i find it funny theres more concern about driving 5 miles on a road to the hotel then driving amongst your friends in your boat all day.

not trying to be a debby downer here, but its something that shouldnt be taken lightly. lets be a little bit more responsible here guys.

I completely agree with you Brad, but the ugly reality is that road cops are LOOKING for DUI a lot harder than boat cops, there's a big difference between too drunk to drive your boat and too drunk to drive your truck. What I mean by that is this, if I'm in my boat, been knocking back coldies all day I'm usually ok to drive, my boat. I'm a lot more aware of my environment and surroundings when I'm on the water. Now put me in my truck & all bets are off, especially if they bust out the breathalyzer.

I'm not advocating drunken boating, just trying to save someone a DUI.

I know there was some concern over driving back to the hotel at the end of the day. I made arrangements with a local to drive your truck & trailer from the ramp to the hotel for $20. We'll call her when we're heading to the ramp, she'll meet us there and start shuffling vehicles. I don't know about you but I'm thinking $20 is a lot cheaper than a DUI.

What do you guys think?

Where do you anticipate doing the actual boating, going up to the lake or boating on the river?  I'm thinking the water will be a bit nippy.  I don't mind nippy on the girls but not too keen on it myself.   8)

We'll be on the river, water will be fine...

Gord,

Look into Willow Valley. Gil has a place there, I'm in the process of getting one, it's a great community, private marina, DEEDED land & close to everything but a world away...

Thanks captain party pooper. I have stayed there many times with no problems. they are being super accommodating to our group unlike big river inn and the avi. I never buy the BS reviews online..or at least take them with a HUGE grain of salt as everyone likes to bitch, no one likes to praise.

If ya dont feel comfortable staying there, theres a ton of other places to stay. Its just easier for us all to stay at one place so we can all meet up for drinks once we're all off the water.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Water Injected Headers

Too much water is coming out. You want a fine mist about 6" long out of your pipes at speed, not cotton candy fluff like you've got. Turn some of the header water down, you'll be glad you did

I wonder if "Jungle Pam" will be there? I'd sure like to see them. Like Linda Vaughn, the Hurst Girl, but she's prolly ninty now.

T,

Linda Vaughn & Jungle Pam were both @ the track a couple years ago, they're not bad looking, especially for their ages, I'd hit either of 'em.

Might be another event happening that weekend....lower river.

Yeah, but this event is about kickin' back, floating, having some beers & being with friends, same thing as the one you're talking about, minus the HP & egos.

This year's dates are Friday 10/7/11 to Monday 10/10/11. In years past we've been at the Avi, and it's always worked out for us. Unfortunately they've got new management that's a pain in the ass. That being said, this year our host hotel is going to be the River Palms in Laughlin http://www.river-palms.com/. They were super accomodating to our needs, they've got great room rates and secure boat parking.

We can launch from a number of places but Big Bend State Park is the closest, and it's reasonably priced and we can go anywhere from there that we'd normally go http://parks.nv.gov/bb.htm

Room rates are as follows;

Friday 10/7/11-$42.99
Saturday 10/8/11-$42.99
Sunday 10/9/11-$17.99

There is the usual $50 charge to cover any damages, you don't get charged this unless you damage shit, so be good and save your $$$. They have rooms that take pets, they've waived the pet fee but not the deposit that you'll get back provided Fido doesn't eat the TV.

As soon as I have confirmation I will post up the group code. Reservations are on you, you have until 14 days before the event to make the reservation & get the rates.

See you in October

Getting there revisited. I saw a totem pole looking sign that said BR, while on Rice road. Some guys saying to turn just before the Parker bridge. Looking on mapquest for BRI the totem pole dohickey, turning there would be a hell of a lot shorter. Am i wrong ???

Once you go thru Vidal Jct it's going to be your first possible right turn, there is a BIG ass sign that says BIG RIVER just follow that road alllllllllllllll the way to the end Nancy Boy

Here's a Google Map link from Desert Center
