Title: 1979 Southwind Formula One
Post by: baxt on June 12, 2019, 04:23:48 PM
Rare 1979 Southwind Formula One with original gel, color sanded and polished at Pat’s Fiberglass.  New carpet, upholstery in good condition, molding and rub rail replaced, stringers reinforced by Pat's Fiberglass, gauges in great condition, GPS speedo, hydraulic place diverter, grate and shoe done by Jack McClure at MPD, Stainless Steel Bimini Top with matching color canvas.  The boat is set up nicely and rides straight.  The engine in the photos will be swapped out with a big block Chevy, but that needs to be rebuilt (unknown issue).  The pump works, but would likely need some work too.  Too many projects and I hate to let this one go, but it's time.  I am the second owner and have owned it for 20 years.  This is a clean boat.  I know this boat inside and out, so let me know if you have any questions.  (626) 786-three2eight5.  Price is $6,000.  Please call with reasonable offers and thanks for checking it out. You can also email me for additional photos.

Is this a fair price?  I was having trouble pricing it.  It's an awesome boat, I believe, with a smooth running bottom.  Any comments?

Thx.  It's a nice running hull.  When I bought it, it had a BBC with a high tunnel ram air intake and single 750 carb.  I blueprinted the pump and it ran 75 with GPS Speedo.  Then I went nuts and redid everything.

What year is your Carrera?  I just bought a 1997 Howard 21 SC and the rep at Howard says it's the same hull as a Carrera.  Have you heard that as well?

Just an update on the engine.  I was under the impression the BBC only had a blown head gasket since there was some water in the oil.  When I took off the heads, I noticed the block was cracked and now junk, so the boat will be sold without a motor, but I kept the heads, Indmar aluminum exhaust manifolds, intake and carb, which I will include,  It's ready for whatever power you want to put in it.  Juice it up!!  $4,500.

Hello,
I'm traveling at the moment, but extremely interested.  I would like to come check it out and likely pick it up from you.  Where is the boat located?  I will PM you my email and phone number.  Please send some more pictures and any other info.  I have a BBC engine ready to go.  This would be a great hull to drop it into.  Can't wait to talk to you about it a little!

Nik

I believe I sent u a message already, but if not, it’s been sold (negotiated anyway). If the financing falls through for any reason, I’ll let you know. Thanks.
