1977 Rogers Dragstar (NO LONGER FOR SALE)
« on: February 27, 2016, 09:22:14 PM »
Original Dragstar less power.  Includes all hardware, jet pump and seats.  Everything but power.  One of only 22 made.  Raced in Top Fuel at NJBA by Clint Blankenship.  Original gel coat in very good condition.  Parquet flooring in good condition.  Stringers in good condition.  Fully functional cavitation plates.  AB bronze impellar.   Stainless steel pump shaft.  Miersh intake.  Trailer just gone through, all lights work.  Bottom is in excellent condition with the exception of the the chines at the rear corners.  A previous owner did a piss poor job of adding them and glassing them in.  Needs a little TLC.  Current California registration.  Pink in hand and it is clean and in my name.  Stored indoors under cover.  $4,500 OBO.  George, Ventura, 310-408-2032.

I'm keeping it.  I stumbled on this post on Scream and Fly and decided to run this beast:
"The Rogers Dragstar will go 114 MPH with a highly modified 470 cu.in. chevy engine with gas and dual carbs, The boat was design to go straight for drag racing. Because the tunnels are shallow the boats tend to slide in sharp turns. Some had a single flat bottom type scag(fin) mounted 52 inches forward of the transom which made them turn on a dime! A healthy big block for the lake would run 80 to 93 mph! This is probably the safest jet boat at high speeds every built. Rogers built one with a big blown Chevy and it ran 142 mph in the late 1970s. ARS Marine in IL owns the mold and are currently building one to test a modified stepped bottom for much greater speed."
