60's flat bottom 59 impala 348 ci V-8 "v" drive prop.
« on: June 11, 2007, 05:30:12 PM »
1960's Gaylord flat bottom 348 ci like a ?schiada? "V" drive
with tube trailer. Complete!!!! Just found out the engine #'s put it as a 1959 Chevy Impala engine. In Winchester, Ca. 92596
I was told the 348 was worth around $3000 and that rest of the hardware, trailer, and hull should bring almost $3000 so I hope the reduced price of only $2700 seems fair enough to help me get over a bit of a financial wake in the pond right now. Perfect for the visionary! This has been stored a while but, would be a fantastic restoration project and turn every head at the lake or river, might even give some whiplash at 80+ mph. Really hate to see her go but, Kind of getting scared for our home and my family.
Thank You for looking! And Thank You Socaljetboats !!!
Shawn (310) 283-0198 Don't let the cell phone # fool you, we are local to the southern Riverside county area!

Thank You very much maybe there is someone who can help us work this all out!!!!!!
Have a great day! :-)

I was the guy that told you your 348 was worth probably $3,000, however since I noticed that the boat was for sale for so long of a time period marcsrollin and I went on eBay and found a ready to run 348 for $800 and no one had bid on it.  :(  Your engine is not worth 3K. My apologies, Rod.

No Worries!
Ebay can go all kinds of directions!  From "Holy SH@! they got it for WHAT?" one way to the other. Everyone I talk to wants the "hull" "trailer" or would love the engine and they have all kinds of offers.  Some good, some pretty crazy.  If someone would like to have her and wants to do something bizarre like, rip her apart, and sell pcs.  So be it??  I just don't want to know.  That would kill me more than selling her in the first place.

I've seen that on craigslist off and on now for quie a while. Cool boat.
In case you didn't know, Gaylord boats were built by the same Gaylord that makes the custom bed covers for trucks over in Paramount. Infact I almost bought the last 21 cruiser they made a few years back, never rigged and I think it was a 77 hull. A friend ended up buying it instead and it's still sitting at his shop. Gaylord of course started in the 50's doing custsom interiors and tops for customs and hot rods back in the 50s.

Your right!!!  I actually spent a long time on the phone with his son who runs the business up there.  He had a ton of great info. but, was really glad to have nothing more to do with the boat side of glass work!
As far as the craigs thing? UGGGGG, I have had a wild ride with those folks and this boat.  I have had some great offers but, I really don't want to know that they are going to trick the engine for a cool rod, rebuild the trailer for something new, or turn the hull into some kind of rich boys harbor cruiser.  I probably turned down some good money in my time of need but I really don't want to hear about that kind of thing!
Ya know?

Ya never know!
If ya take one lil' bite at a time, it all brakes down to "flap A into slot B".  Patience, sweat, some money, a bit of time, descent garage & plenty of beer!  It's still here if ya change your thoughts.
Thanks for the well wishes!
