Title: Hondo Daycruiser
Post by: Roadrunner on December 17, 2012, 11:55:24 AM
For Sale is my 77 Hondo Daycruiser. BBC, Jacuzzi Yj, super clean interior, bimini top, comes with cover. This boat is super rare. The seating is very spacious, the storage space under the deck is huge. Boat rides like a dream in chop. Exhaust trumpets are above the water line, sounds bitchen @ idle... before it dropped another valve. Block is good (.30 over), compression is good, oil pressure and temp were excellent, heads are new, unkown solid cam, couldn't dial in the lash adj. Do a cam swap and your golden. Or drop in your BBC and run. Boat comes with freshly rebuilt carb (holley 800 dp), two intake manifolds (dual plane air gap, and stock), an extra set of  049 heads, isky racing double coil springs, crane roller rockers, stock springs & rockers. Has new battery, hoses, plugs, wires, bilge pump, gate valve. Has a mallory electronic dist. Has 2 big saddle tanks (aluminum), all guages work, steering and fw/rv cables smooth, jet works flawlessly. The trailer has been rebuilt, including paint, hydraulic surge brakes(needs new bunks only). I bought it from the original owners, boat comes with copies of the original pinks. I am storing the boat in Hesperia right now. If interested PM me. I will offer this to SCJB'rs only first, then craigslist if nobody wants it. $2000

How bad is the head, do you know? I will be thru there sometime in the next couple weeks. Are you in Hesparia to show it?

I don't believe there is any head damage. The heads were new before that trip. I shut it down as soon as I heard it. Pulled the valve cover, confirmed it, then trailered the boat. I havn't touched it since, too busy. I live in the San Fernando Valley. I can pull it down here if that is easier for you. If Hesperia works better for you, it can be viewed @ any time. I just need to let my friend know when (I store it at his house). I prefer showing it in Hesperia, I can run up there and meet you.

I see a lot of similarities in this boat and mine.  Was this Hondo also a splash of the Spectra?  Even the hardware is the same just in different places.  Just curious to know, as a lot of the boat history from So Cal I had never heard before joining this site.

I don't know if it is a Spectra splash. Spectra offered a similar looking hull the same time this was made. If anyone knows any history on this I would love to learn about it. This is a 77. When I look up Hondo boat production + years, technically this hull wasn't offered until 78. I have never seen a brochure or anything. I have only seen one other Hondo like this. It was on the east coast, a 1978, everything was identical except it was blue and white, and had a berkely. The Hin on mine is HNDC3036M77I. I have talked to a couple old timers, one of them used to be a dealer back in the day. They both think mine was an experimental before production. I don't know...who knows? I don't even want to sell it. My daughter is in college, and I just got a 2 week pink at work. I put it in the Lord's hands. If it is meant to be sold, then so be it. If not, GREAT! I know it will all work out in the end, boat or not.
