Well I got a call from Bostick today and everything maged good. So now all I have to do is figure out how to come up with the money to have it built by them. We I better talk to the wife and see if I can get some money to do the work. Yay, that will be fun!!!

They want $3700 to do the whole thing adding some upgraded parts, and all the machine work. I know looking at what some people have in there engines that's not a lot but it's just a little bit of a shock to her and a little for me as well. Lol

This is a area where you get what you pay for. Your off to a great start and at the right place for the build. Don't be cutting comers in this department find another spot to make cuts. Remember good no cheap and cheap is not good. Have you ever tried to paddle up river I rest my case.

I totally agree. It's getting the wifey to understand that. We are going to work some stuff out and make it happen. With the build he is going to do he said it will put out around 500 hp. That more than I was expecting.

You will have a good time with 500 hp. You will be in a place were reliability is still good but you have enough horsepower to play with the boys. At the end of the day you will be happy.

And reliability is what I want. I want something that I can run every weekend and know it's going to run and preform. The guys down there know a lot about jet boat engines so I want them to do the work so I know everything is ready. I think I am even going to take my pump down to them for the rebuild.

I got some more sanding done, just about out from under the bow. Can't wait to get where I have room to move around and not feel claustrophobic. Lol. Hope to have all the sanding done by mid week so I can do stringers next weekend before my surgery on the 30th. Going to get ahold of Bostick Monday and start getting the ball rolling on getting the engine built. Like everyone has said I would rather pay the money for a good reliable engine than half ass it and end up broke down.

4 1/2 grinder with 60 grit tiger paw and a belt sander with 36 and 80 grit.

While I was letting some dust settle I was looking at my loader for my jet. It's some hokey home built loader. It looks like one of the sport loaders except where they welded the angle on it stuck way down under the boat, almost as long as the two fins on either side of the intake. Now that I am having the engine rebuilt should I stick with the same kind of loader or should I put something different on there?

Here is a pic of what it looked like. I was going to try and fix it but I decided that I'm just going to buy another one. So I cut the angle off that's why the clamps are there to kinda give you all an idea of what it looked like

Any one have an answer on my last question and I have another question. I'm thinking of going to a rail kit and going away from the 4 point mount for my 454. Does anyone have one or know how to make one or should I just stick with the 4 point mount. I got my taxes done so I am going to have Bostick start rebuilding my engine. I just want to start thinking about how I'm going to mount it. I know the rail kit makes it easier to install and pull the engine, but other than that I don't know much about them. Thanks

. I would look into a new loader and Bostick builds rail kits pretty cheap.

x2 bostick is very reasonable. He has s huge amount of knowledge and WILL NOT half ass anything. When I I dropped motors off we talked for about 2 hrs about boats, hardware set ups, motors, ect... I give bostick two thumbs up !! 👍👍 and if he can't do what you want he knows the right person to get the job done.. Other recommendations for pump or rail kits would be Chris- B1, Jack- MPD, or Greg- GS, I have dealed with both Chris and Greg and have had great work done , my CP is fully set up by Jack and even though I've never personally dealed with him I can say he knows how to set up a boat!

Pics please! Where did you get the material from? I was lucky and already had the 2x2 angle and backing for rails and had some 3/8 plate laying around. But still spent 40 bucks in jigsaw blades and who knows what it would have cost if one of my renters didn't have a shear he let me use. But if you can get a piece of 3/8 alluminum 24x30 for less than 90 bucks get me the hook up!! 👍
